"Schleich Feuerwehrschlumpf als Anhänger von 1980. Wurde nur 1980 als Anhänger für die schwäbische Fastnet hergestellt."

Have anyone heard of a fireman as keychain from 1980?? :-?

Hi Frank,

I got a picture from the one writing this and it has no CE marking. And he says he got the information from Fastnet AG in Schwäbish Gmünd ( where Schleich is located).

Schleich stopped making the fireman as supersmurf in 1986. And then started again in 1992. On the first picture in 1992 catalogue it has a red nozzle. The reason for that could be that it was used as a promo for the Fastnet around 1990. So maybe the year was 1990 instead of 1980. That also could explain why it does not have the CE.

So my guess so far is that this promo was used 1990 as a keychain with red nozzle. Then Schleich started selling it again in 1992 and only used the red nozzle on this picture. I don´t think necessarily it was sold in the superboxes with a red nozzle. I assume then it would be more common in boxes.

What do you think?

The answer I got in german:
" die Information hatte ich, bevor ich den Anhänger selber hatte.
Auf meinem Feuerwehrschlumpf steht ebenfalls 1981.
Die Information war von der Fastnet AG in Schwäbisch Gmünd."

Tine told us the keychain fireman was a promo for the firedepartment in Schwäbish Gmünd. That is more likely. And it was probably made around 1990??

The other keychainsmurf used for fasnet in 1980 must be another keychain smurf??

This pictures are from another forum where he shows these pictures of items made every year since 1980 by Schleich and Bully.

Here are the missing ones.

I wonder though which keychainsmurf was used in 1980???

I very much doubt the fireman was used in 1980. I would be very strange if Schleich marked a smurf 1981 in 1980!! It would be like the new smurfs for 2012 would be marked 2013!! :o

Hi Andre

Sorry for the delay......... :-D
Seems i am to late, the fireman got Schleich W. Germany and indeed 1981 on his foot.
Got a few of those, one dark helmet one light and a rohling with red hose.
All the same marking.

I got this answer:

"Yes, and it was the first figurine wich was sold in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
The second figurine was the Königsturm.
But it could be, that both was sold in 1981. (and not the firesmurf in 1980)

The keychain is the entrance card for the carnival parties in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Even the firedepartment make carnival parties."

So maybe this keychain was the first variation of the fireman in 1981??? :-? Is it never marked CE??

Thanks Frank!

I think Steve wrote that he got one normal( not a keychain) with CE and red nozzle in the firemanthread.

But off course those could easily be switched!

If it was sold in 1992 and 1993 it would probably have CE marking. I have got a few of those superboxes through the years, but never seen any with red nozzle in a CE superbox for the fireman.

Could have been that it never was sold with red nozzle as a supersmurf?? Only as a promo for the firedepartment in Schwäbish Gmünd and used at the carnival( fasnet) there?? :-? :-D

I've always heard that this particular fireman is always a keychain and didn't come with a box :-?

It makes sense that it was intended as a special smurf for this fire department

I got this information:

"A woman from the Fastnetteam from Schwäbisch Gmünd said it to me.
And i send her a photo from my fireman smurf and she said, that this is the right one."

So then we seems to have a very likely year for that promo also!! :-D

So Schöller, Schlumphausen, firemankeychain, shellgocart, national attendant, ASS cardplayer etc. . Many we now get approximate years for. :D  But still many to go!! 8-)

I just thought I'd add here, for those not aware of the tradition (I wasn't until I moved to Germany), that Fasnet is another word for Fasnacht, Fastnacht, Fasenacht or Fasching which are all words which are a combination of fast (as in not eating etc - like breakfast where you eat again after getting up in the morning) & night.

It is part of the carneval tradition. Helau!! Alaaf!! :) :)

I grew up in Germany and didn't know that about Fasnet....I obviously know about Fasching and Fasnacht which are huge in Germany, but we never participated so I never paid any attention :) :) :)

For those who don't know..Fasching is celebrated in February and is a bit like Halloween..only that it lasts a couple of days and is followed by Ash Wednesday.
