Well, they tried and their scam didn't work.
A short list of the albums recalled is on that BBC article.

http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4441928.stm

but a more complete list can be found here: (Although technically I don't know if all of these are being recalled).

The Saga continues: the unistaller from Sony leaves a security gap which then has to be patched in by other tools!!!!!

I have followed a bit of this since you mentioned it David...it seems Sony are stopping it until they can work the bugs out.....I don't mind if they just stop altogether.

Ok seriously, I don't understand fully this Sony thing...if you play these in a regular CD player, they are ok?? It'll only affect you in your put in on your PC and try to copy it? Or will it affect your PC if you just play it? :banghead:

I think it automatically releases a virus type thing when you put it in the pc to stop you burning the disc....well something like that I think I read........ therefore Sony is taking them all back until they can work out how to get rid of the bugs. :-?

Staci, Dyar: Both of you are correct:

A CD from that list installs a bug on your PC (if you are playing it on a PC). It does not affect your Hi-Fi.

However that Sony "bug" opens some doors for some seriously nasty Spyware and Viruses to install themsleves on you PC. And when you try to clean the Sony bug from your PC, it leaves these "doors" open.

Very nasty actually. Hence why Sony is trying to come clean with it... but failing miserably so far!

So Sony is being sued.....if I was a record exec at Sony I would start looking for a new job...same goes to any artist who doesn't sell over 5 million copies of their recent album....actually, I think that's the norm with Sony these days.
