2024 Collecting Smurfs

With Schleich not producing any new Smurfs for 2024, I am curious to know if people still collecting PVC Smurfs or other Smurf merchandise.
I have collected some PVC Smurfs but nothing that hasn’t already been mentioned. I am hoping to collect some other Smurfs such as ones made by Plastoy.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Kath
I'm only getting the few older PVC smurfs to complete my collection (down to my last jubilee and just two more anniversary smurfs to get
). I haven't bothered with any of the newer PVC smurfs from schleich since 2018 yet, nor have I attempted the smurfs from the first two movies (but that is a deliberate thing as I simply don't like the look of them). I have also given up on trying to collect various paint variations (eg European soccer smurfs) as there are too many dubious sellers out there on ebay who invest their spare time painting up new things to sell.
I have been collecting some of the other smurfs from other manufacturers and can recommend Jazware, Jakks Pacific, de Agostini, My busy books, Kinder Surprise, Sbabam and selective McDonalds sets. I only have the 2000 and 2003 Plastoy Smurfs and none of the more recent ones.
Cheers
Daryl

Thanks Daryl
I haven’t heard My busy books or Jazware, so I will need to look these up.
I also like Plastoy Smurfs but I am always nervous about them getting broken in transit.
Looks like I will need to go shopping for Smurfs

Hi Kath
Yes I'm the same regarding transit breakages. Even though I have the Plastoy smurfs I am usually too scared to take them out in case they break. They are solid feeling, but like Smurfette's flower could easily get broken (not a euphemism
).
The my busy books set can be seen on Moey's "Hidden in the woods" website under "misc smurfs" - three rows from the bottom. They are smaller than the regular smurfs but still nicely detailed. There are some cheap made-in-China versions out there (whole set for around $19nz). They need repainting as they are really badly painted (eg tails and sometimes ears not painted etc).
The boxed set of 10 Jazware smurfs can be seen on ebay in a set if you look for "40th anniversary smurfs" however they were made in 2022 not 1998!?! I got mine from an ebay seller from Australia who seems to have a regular stock of them and at the best price! Around $50 for the set. When they are only sold as sets you feel guilty that you aren't collecting them rather than being a consumer of packaged plastic goods and merely hoovering them up because they are all there in one convenient package.

Thanks Daryl for some suggestions.
I recall when I started collecting Smurfs, I was keen to only collect PVC Smurfs. Mainly because there are so much Smurf merchandise out there. This hasn’t changed if anything there is more.

I have been keeping up with the Schleich offerings every year, but that's it. I'm not going out of my way to find anything old, and most of my Smurfs have been in a state of storage for over a decade. They aren't terribly in the way, but the active collecing days are as good as over.
