Rach...do you remember that cake that someone's Mum made for them?....the one that was just so incredible that it seemed a crime to eat. I can't remember who it was for or who posted the pics but it would be nice to add it to this thread if someone kept a copy of the pic.

I also had a smurf cake one year. I'll have to find the photo and scan it in. The cake was inspired from a smurf birthday cake that was in a cake book my mum found and brought. Not sure if it is an Australian book. It has a green cover and I think a Thomas the Tank cake on the cover. The Smurf cake in the photo looked much better than how mine turned out. It was a smurf house, and I can't recall what the smurfs were made from. Some sort of eatable icing mixture that you could mold.

Hi Brad, I think I know the book you are talking about. Its got a whole pile of character cakes. I have a pic here somewhere of the cake from the book. I can't think of the name of it at the moment. I tried to win one on ebay once. The author was a lady and I'm sure its called Character cakes or something similar.

Hi Dyar, yep I do remember seeing a fab cake. Was it the one in the book though? I did a quick search but couldn't find anything but I will have another look later. Can anyone else remember?

Great cake there Stace.....where was my slice?
Actually, one of our friends put their daughter on a birthday cake (3 year old) from a photo....and I couldn't help thinking it was weird as the knife started cutting up her face and across her neck......surely that can't be good?

Yes! Thats the one! I'll have to go find my copy of the book and see what it's called. Just not sure where the book is. Might be in a kitchen cupboard maybe. But anyway, me and my mum attempted this one year. I really can't remember what the smurfs were made from. I'll go find the book right now. Book is called "Favourite Character Cakes" by Debbie Brown.

Smurfs are made from modelling paste. I think you buy that already made from memory but have to add colouring to it. Then you model it like clay.
I'll have to hunt for a photo of how mine turned out.
