Hi Dimply and :welcome: to the forum.

Schleich is the company that produces smurfs. There are some smurfs made in Hong Kong so not all smurfs from Hong Kong are fakes. I know there are some Easter smurfs from Hong Kong that are fakes. Attom is the "fake smurf expert" around here so he can probably tell you more.

Fram is also from Belgium and I'm sure he'd willingly help you out if you need help in your native tongue....though I think your English is good anyway! :D

Hello Dimply, welcome aboard. :welcome:

There are many smurfs made in Hong Kong, most of which are genuine, the smurfs being sold from Hong Kong are mainly fakes. If you are ever not sure, please just ask. :-D

Hello Dimply,

Welcome on this Forum. Good to see an other Belgium one. :D

I am also from Belgium, near Gent. From where are you?

About fake, you have to learn when you collect. But from Hong Kong there are a lot of smurfs coming from.
But if you have any questions please ask. No problem how much you ask, everyone have to learn.

I'm collecting for over 18 years now, so....

Michelle

thx for the welcome all :D

i know that "schleich" is the one that produces smurfs

the only thing what confuse me a bit is:

are there fake smurfs who also use "schleigh" logo ?
or only the real ones have the logo of schleich on it ?

for example (now i will try to post a picture lolllll ,hope it works)

i bought 2 almost same smurfs : the firesmurf
the grey helmet one is made in germany by schleigh
the red helmet one is made in hong kong and also schleigh on it
a fake or not ?
maybe i don't explaine it that well ,but i hope you understand my question
now i hope my picture will appear lolllll otherwise i need to ask ppl again
you see i'm a noob héhé
thx for you patient with me , i'm in my first week of collecting and time will learn me more
btw: i'm living in oostende ,but i was born in gent ,"een stropke hé ;-)

Hello dimply, both the fireman smurfs you have are genuine. :-D

There are a few fakes with Schleich markings so you do have to watch out but most of the smurfs with Hong Kong Schleich markings are fine, they are just the smurfs that were made for the USA market. :D

Welcome dimply

It's nice to see more people joining from Belgium recently which makes this forum a much better place. I'm from Australia but I love meeting people from all around the world as we all learn from this.

I agree with Rach that your Fireman smurfs are fine and and are not fakes at all. It's 6 different Easter smurfs that were made in Hong Kong (but have China CE markings) that you have to watch out for. The authentic ones also have China CE markings so they can be very difficult to tell if they are fakes or not.

There are also many different fakes with W Germany markings and these can be obvious when you comparethem to the authentic version. It's very hard to understand everythign about then when you are new to collecting but I am sure by coming here and reading the forum that you will learn really quickly.

As Michelle says....you can ask as much as you like about anything as we are very friendly here to new & older collectors and if we can answer a question then we will anytime you need help.....your English is very good so you don't have to worry about that.

BTW....Welcome Michelle...I don't think I have said hello to you yet.....so excuse my bad manners. :o

Most of us have bought the Der Schlumpf Katalog (DSK). This is written in German but it has pictures and numbers to show which smurf is which and also has a section that shows some fakes and other smurfy stuff. I don't know any German but find its a great resource for me.

Hi Dimply

I had never read any German previously (except for U2's album Actung Baby"....great album)....but I learnt so much after reading it. I think it transformed me from just reading what other people said to actually being able to answer questions which made me feel pretty good since I was new to forums and the internet full stop.

I don't think it would hurt to get a Katalog and if you have any problems with it then you know you have all of us to answer any questions or to help you understand it better.

:welcome: Dimply! Another Belgian, great! :-D

As long as you buy cheap (easy to get) Smurfs, the catalogue isn't really needed perhaps, although it is fun to have. When you plan on getting a rather big collection or on buying mre expensive Smurfs, then you sure need one or two catalogues. The DSK (available from Kitty's Cavern, and probably from Michelle as well) is the best in my view.
Any problems with the German in it, just ask here, we have figured most of it out by now.
Any other questions, ask away as well, that's why we're here for!

Hi Dimply, that is a great start. :-D

Yes there are quite a few Belgians here which is so nice as it is the birthplace of the smurfs after all.

I am afraid the international forum isn't usually busy as I think many members like to post in the main sections so everyone understands but at least there is a choice. I only speak English I am afraid so I don't go in there very often. :scaredy:

Hi Dimply

I am a member at a few smurf forums but this place is the best by far because it is so friendly and people are willing to share their knowledge and help people no matter whether they are new collectors or have been collecting for 20 years. In the end it makes no big difference whether you are new or a long time collector as we are all friends and enjoy hearing from new people no matter what country or what language they speak. I think one of the other reasons this is a great place is the fact that people from anywhere in the world can join in and become part of the family and the more people that join from different countries the better this place becomes. We not only learn more about smurfs but we learn more about different cultures and different people and that is just as interesting to me as anything in this world.

I had never talked to someone from Belgium before coming here and now I regard the Belgian members here as very good friends and some of the nicest people I have met.....Santa is still is the nicest person I've ever met but I am grateful for what this forum has given to me in terms of friendship and knowledge.

Hi Dimply,

Your firemans are great.
The one with red and yellow is more difficult to find. Just great for a starter. I had them when i was collecting over years. 8-)

If you buy a DSK it's all in it. I really want to help you that's for sure, and i don't want to sell you something you don't need for a starter. Once i was a starter to... If you know what i mean.

I'm honnest enough to tell you what smurfs you have to buy first. I have alot of smurffriends over the world. I know the peoples who made the DSK ....

Everybody knows THE SISTERS FROM BELGIUM!

Michelle
