Is Australia nice? I'm asking because, my freind is moving there. My best
freind infact. I know it is very hot, but I have never been there. Here It
is raining all the time.

My best friend moved to Saudi Arabia when I was 9 years old and I was really sad. She lived over there for 4 years and she came back to visit just once in that time. I can remember being very upset when she left, it was 1978. Anyway, when she eventually came back we were just as good friends and even though now she lives in London we get together and we have even been on holidays together. I just thought I would tell you about this in case you are feeling sad about your friend going away, which I expect you are, because no matter where she is in the world she will still be your friend.

Is Australia nice?... ....it's perfect and I bet your friend will love it here. The people are very friendly so I am sure she will make friends really quickly. She might as well throw away her umbrella as it hardly ever rains in Australia, it's one of the driest places on earth.....even our humour is quite often dry

It must be a big move for her though to move so far away and leave all of her friends behind but you should try to keep in contact with her and then one day you can visit her and have a place to stay as well.

And yes I am very sad she went, and I was still crying after two days!
But she did phone me yesterday. I was so surprised
And guess what? She does not have to go to school for..........TWO MONTHS!!!!!!

We are just ending our school year here. We are at the end of week 5 in WA. Theres only 3 and a half weeks left now so theres probably no point in her starting now. We have 6-7 weeks holiday break over the summer so thats probably why she has 2 months before she has to start back. Lucky her! I am looking forward to the time off myself.

Well maybe you can console yourself with the fact that she will be wilting. Our summers get as hot as 42+ degrees celcius (107.6F) on some days. It does rain in our summers too occasionally but they are those hot sticky muggy rains with great lightning shows.

Sounds like heaven Linda! I love those lightning storms (honestly)! :)

I 'm hoping to see some in the shetlands (islands north of Scotland) some day... It's supposed to be pretty stormy up there and very windy!!!

My brother has spent a lot of time in Shetland and the Orkneys, he used to be a bird ringer and go up there on trips to ring birds (no not that kind, Syd! ). He took my dad's cine-camera up to Foula last time he went so I saw some great film of the area, really in the middle of nowhere!

I love the lightning storms too, David. they're pretty impressive to watch. I think I posted some pics here once of some lightning that phil took pics of. Only trouble is that everything is very crisp around that time of year so add some lightning to the ground and *POOF* everything goes up in smoke! So any dragons wanting to visit Australia please don't come in summer (aka Fire Season!)
