Update # 2 :

Hi Smurfers!

Not too much to report this week. I was told by a crew member that works on another production that the Cast of the Smurfs were in studio all week this week. :(

Neil Patrick Harris was seen again on Ste-Catherine street while he was getting is Starbucks coffee. Check out these new pictures.

And

Jayma Mays will be jetting off to Paris this summer to shoot scenes for The Smurfs 2:

“I’m shooting The Smurfs 2 through the middle of July with Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria. We’re filming in Montreal and Paris. My character was expecting a baby in the first one, so now we’re going to have a little one named Blue.”

It's really surprising and disappointing to see you all happy here. It seems you would agree with any plot, however it is.
Anyone know the words faithfulness and criticism?
I wonder what would we have if this was made by belgian people and Peyo was still alive.

If you ever expected something better than a Garfield/Scooby Doh/Yogi Bear type of adaptation to live action you were sorely mistaken the first time and this one as well. For this type of adaptation this is as good as it gets. Maybe you ought to wait until they make the next traditional animation film of the smurfs.

It would be nice to see this bring a revival of classic animated smurfs.... I liked the movie...was it the best it could be...proably not...but I did like how the smurfs were portrayed in the context of the story and I felt the story had a lot of heart for this type of movie.... again it would be nice to see a smurf cartoon revival like transformers or other properties have had... loved the christmas special on the DVD as a good example of that

I could not have said it better....I think the smurfs were represented surprisingly well in the movie..and frankly, I will support anything that introduces smurfs in a positive light to a new generation of children.

Since the movie was approved and even supported by Peyo's family, I do believe he would have not disapproved of it either. I was actually surprised how much of the original story (including mentioning Peyo as the creator by name) was incorporated into the movie.

Well in the movie they basically make him their discoverer as if he based his creation on something real which I think is a pretty good homage to him. Incidentally Peyo never explained on what if any folklore he based the smurfs on. But they seem to be related to elves, gnomes etc.

I already know the climax of the movie: it will be in Eiffel tower in Paris. Gargamel will kidnap the baby called "Blue" to do some kind of magic at the top of the tower. Smurfs will save him using magic and storks. They will leave the tower flying with their hats, as they used them in 1st movie.

There will be a memorable smurfettes duel, Blonde vs Brunette. Who will win?

We'll see the smurf village in the 5 first minutes and in the 5 last ones. This way everybody will be happy...

Anyway... I can't imagine how they will arrive to Paris. Will they accidentally come down in the time tunnel, again?
In the 3rd movie, will they use the time tunnel AGAIN?

:banghead: :x  :-P

hmmm...now see the novelization has Papa seeing a vision of Gargamel at the end..my guess is they come to our world with the purpose of stopping him this time...I'd rather that happens than them accidently coming here this time...would be funny if they had to do some traveling though..."are we there yet Papa Smurf" "Not far now"

Update # 3
Hi Smurfers!
Sorry it’s been so long for this update!

Here it goes :
On Saturday May 26th, I found a post on twitter about the Smurfs 2 set were abouts for the next day. So on Sunday morning, I want down to Montréal old port to search for the Smurfs set. It didn’t take too long to find it, so many trucks and crew walking around. Yes SMURFSSSSS!!!! Finding a place to stand and watch the scene… easy!! Taking pictures of it… IMPOSSIBLE!!! Snif snif. There was so many security people around the set, that if your camera was seen… first they would ask politely to put it away and warn that if it was seen again, it would be taken away! So bye bye camera.

But being on the set and being able to see the scene live in front of me! PRICELESS!!! And sooo much fun!

I won’t talk about the scene but what I can say is : it was a scene with Gargamel and Azrael in New York. And yes I did see Hank Azaria live! Doing our favorite vilain Gargamel. We were standing right next to the car that carried the many Azrael used on the set. They were so cute, all four of them!!

What we found out when we were standing there for 3 hours, is that right after lunch, another scene was going to be shoot, on another set not too far from the first one. What do you think?? We went for lunch and went on the other set.

This time totally different, it was a Paris set!
So funny to see Montreal being transformed into New York and Paris!!

This set also full of security people… no pictures again! Snif snif… but fun fun fun!! Stars Stars Stars!! First car : Blue!! Came out, cute little boy! Second car : Brendan Gleeson!! Third car : Jayma Mays, she is so cute! And out of no where Neil Patrick Harris showed up on the set! Full cast sighting!! So excittteeedddd! :smurfwave:

I found on internet some links where you can see a few pictures of the sets… enjoy!
Some scenes from the New York and Paris sets :

For more picture used the arrow on the right side of the screen… small pictures. There is about 30 pictures.

The beautiful Sofia Vergara was in Montréal on May 24th and 25th to do her scenes for the movie, she has twitted these pictures.

(A few more pictures of the transformation of Montreal into Paris shops and area)

I also found another post about the Smurfs set in the Jean-Talon subway station. I wonder what that scene will be all about!

(Scroll down to the 10th picture… cool sign I wish I had seen it)

I found this post on internet… keep this site in mind for later posts. So exciting she has interviewed the cast! Fun!

Two weeks ago I did go back in Old Montréal to check out the area where they were shooting… but I got there too early in the day, it was a night scene. :( So no sighting!

On Thursday June 21th, Neil Patrick Harris posted a fun picture on twitter… check it out :
http://twitter.com/ActuallyNPH/status/2 ... 85/photo/1

I guess they were doing some interior scenes this week, since Neil is in studio playing Peter Pan! :)

If you want to following N.P.H. on twitter : @ActuallyNPH or Sofia Vergara : @SofiaVergara or Hank Azaria : @HankAzaria

On Wednesday june 27th, Neil Patrick Harris twitted this message « Goodbye, Montreal! I had such a great time – the sights, the food, the people – I think you might be my favorite city in Canada! »

Wow Thanks Neil!

During my search I found some casting calls for the filming in Paris
They are looking for :
1) Cast stand-in for Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara between July 5th to the 17th!
2) A young asian man and woman for scenes to be filmed on July 11th
3) Two mime artists a man and a woman to be filmed on July 15th to the 17th

Cannot wait to see where all these people will fit into the movie.
So my Friends from France, soon it will your turn to report any big news about our Smurfy friends.
Be on the look out in Paris from July 5th to the 17th! You never know!

According to the schedule, this week was the last week of filming in Montréal. Sadly no information about film location got out this week.
But it was such fun that Sunday… I wish you guys would have been there with me. Imagine all of us, looking at scenes!! Talk about crazyness! Or Smurfyness! :)

the blog with the Vergara picture is announcing the movie to be released right this month to theaters even though they are clearly on the process of filming it. whoever wrote the article jumped the shark big time. Awesome news none the less.

Update # 4

July 5th, 2012 - First images from Paris!

The Smurfs 2 set pictures in front of the Garnier Opera in Paris, France.
In this scene filmed in Paris, Neil Patrick Harris and Blue (the little boy) are dressed the same has the scene I saw in Montréal… I guess it’s a long scene in the film.
