Hi,
I have looked at some smurf websites, but didn't find this Schleich smurf mini catalogue. There is no year on it. It could be from 1991, but maybe you know more...

I have no ideia, sorry, but... on the last page you posted there's a vertical line on the right. Maybe a copyright line? with a date on it? What does it say?
Maybe it'll give you a clue of the date? :D
There are those who believe that life here began out there...

I don't know either, but you could be close with 1991 seeing that the Patriot smurf is in there as what looks like the latest smurf released with this catalog :-?

Yes, I think, 1991 would make sense, because nobody seems to one a booklet of that year (1, 2, 3)
The patriot was first released in 1990 and according to the DSK, there were no new smurfs released in 1991, so 1991 seems to be good. On the other hand, the DSK says that the Smurfette in gown was sold in 1989 the last time. That could be wrong, of course...

It says "Schleich Produktions- und Handelsges mbH D-7070 SDchwäbisch Gmünd". So, no date there. :-?

Hi Simon,

this booklet is from 1991. And the intresting thing here are the order the smurfs are placed in. After the patriotsmurf there are 19 smurfs which Schleich didn´t sell 1990, but started again 1991( probably with the CE mark). So these 19 smurf should have 91 as prodyear in catalogue. :D

Hi André,
Thank you very much for that information!
It makes sense that no new smurfs were produced, but the row of 19 smurfs was taken in production again. :D

I don´t have the 1990 booklet. The closest I have is 1992.

But if you have the 1990 booklet and compare with this booklet, the first 81 smurfs should be in there and the other 19 normalsmurfs are not in the 1990 booklet.

And as you write the years in the DSK is not 100% accurate, but it is not easy to know all these years.

For example some of the sportsupers were sold in polkadotboxes 1996. These are in the DSK, but I can´t find them in any booklet from 95,96,97 or 98. These supers( like the volleyball) seems to have been sold otherwise. Maybe there is a separate booklet or only this folded poster from Dyars site. They were sold in this "We are Champions"-series. I borrowed the picture from Dyars site, I hope it is OK. And I have all these polkadot sportsupers so they exist.

So the booklet are not 100% accurate either. Could actually be more smurfs sold then shown in there. :-?

It adds to the CE marking debate: tuxedo, evening gown are not known to havee CE markings.......maybe in these early days a lot of stickers were used and not actually letters molded????

I'll ask Stefan as he has been collecting right through this period, so if anyone knows it will be him (unless someone has these with CE mark)

I agree Martin,

I think among the old molds they used stickers in the beginning or handetched( like on these fitness smurfs). But the new ones released from 92 had CE in the molds.

I recently bought a large collection of smurfs and this collector stopped collecting in the beginning of the 90s. Most of the smurfs released the year around 90 have the sticker and no CE in the mold.

The only one I think is strange after 92 is the bodybuilder which was sold without CE also( red trousers)?? :-? Otherwise I think all the smurfs released after 92 should have CE in the mold, or do you have smurfs released after this without the CE Martin???

This bodybuilder was released in 1989 first and so is available without CE marking Andre.

After 1992 you are right Andre they all have CE markings.

Martin,

I don´t mean the fitness smurf. I mean the Bodybuilder 20417 with releaseyear 1993. That one with red shorts don´t have the CE marking.

Sorry Andre I saw the pic and .....

You are right the red shorts is normally without CE (although I have it with.....!) and I think the reason is that this was the first run colours and was intended for release in 1989 or so obviously before the CE mark came in. Peyo did not like the mold and therefore fitness smurf was released instead. After Peyo's death in late 1992 the bodybuilder was re-released with CE mark but with gold shorts normally

Thanks Martin,

that makes sence.

And regarding your CE mark thread. Would you say that all smurfs made from 92 was sold with the CE mark in the mold, including the old form smurfs still in production? And the smurfs that later was brought back in production, like the champion, tailor etc.?

Have you checked the Bully poster thread? Do you know when Bully started with the smurfs and when they stopped? And which smurfs are possible to find with Bullymarkings? I am pretty sure they did not make any supersmurfs and therefore should not be in any supersmurf displays. And the only accessorie was the large Bully house, I think.

Regards post 1992: my honest answer is I don't know. From what I can work out it seems likely. I would have to try and get hold of the releases year by year and compare with my own collection, websites etc or simply ask Schleich(they would probably not know).
