Here you have a prisoner without any markings. I don´t think it was on the list in the thread Maureen posted.

And I found this fake also. I think he could be populair in prison with that red lipstick?

I know, this is not the one you mean, but I like to show this special, genuine smurf with axe from Bully.
I don`t have the hand etched version.

Lia
Lia,

I found it in another bag. :-D

Now you have to look for the digger with only Peyo C instead. :-?

I agree, that red mouth must be desired in jail, but would also nicely fit in my collection ;-)
I`m impressed by all the woodcutters!
so sorry, but I don`t have that digger ( remember, that I just decided to start with the variations)

I forgot something that Graham reminded me about.

The smurfs Bully first started with with only Peyo C, could also be found with handetched Bully, like on these ones.

The thing I try to figure out is which smurfs are to be found with which markings.

So this is what I think. The smurfs Bully made between 1973 and 1974( only the Bully mold, not Schleichmold) are the only ones to be found with only Peyo C.

1975 they started with the handetched Bully. So the ones produced after that can only be found with handetched Bully and not Peyo C. But Bully also added the handetched marking in some of the molds from 73 and 74, like on the smurfs on the picture.

And then sometime around 1976/77 Bully started with the printed Bully. So the Bullysmurfs after this can´t be found with only Peyo C or handetched Bully.

The older versions of the Bully Flyer, not one on the top( new Bully), was among the first ones. This could maybe be found with handetched also????

I have this version when they added the printed Bully on the wing also, but could be one more version of this maybe???

Great poster Andre.

You are right on a couple of things: no Bully molds after fallen ice skater and no supers at all.

My interpretation of things with the license to make smurfs is :

1965-1973: Schleich
1973-1980 : Bully
1977-present day : Schleich

I think your poster is from 1977.

The numbering seems to indicate which company made the molds:

Top numbering starting with kicker 2 are all BULLY molds
Bottom numbering are all SCHLEICH molds.

Not sure why it starts with kicker as the quack was the first made Bully mold....

The only thing I am not sure about is that when in the period 1973-1976 only Bully smurfs were released...did the Schleich molds get released with a Bully mark??? Probably not as I have never seen one..obviously all the Bully molds after 1980 had the name Bully scratched off and Schleich put on instead...maybe they didn't do it for technology reasons I don't know.
The most beautiful molds are the Bully protos that were made to replace the existing Schleich molds but were never released. They are much better than Schleich's and it is a tragedy they did not get to the market. For example: prisoner, normal, papa, drummer etc.....Christy has some on her site and also pics of others.

The only 2 that did make it from Bully AFTER the original Schleich mold was on the market were smurfette and Astro.

Hope this helps

Martin
Martin,

I have been thinking of the smurfs released between 77 and 81, when both Schleich and Bully sold smurfs. If you look at the poster it seems Bully sold smurfs that Schleich was releasing at the same time???? Like the guitar, swimmer, thinking, sitting etc.. Do you think they worked together during these years???

And the versions on Christys site, where can I find them???

Thanks Christy! :-D

I just love that prisoner.

And I would love to get my hands on those molds and make only one smurf for myself. Just kidding.

Christy,

If you would guess, when were these made???

And if you compare the softer early bully with the harder ones, would you say they are harder?

I guess these are the first versions of these if I understood you correct Martin. Eventhough it says 72 on both Johan and Pewitt and nothing on Gargamel.

And this Smurfette version was only sold by Bully, right?
Schleich displayed the Bully mold smurfette in their dealer catalogues in a stand with keyhanger. I guess they could have sold at least a few of them until they may have replaced it with the Schleich smurfette.

But we all know there are smurfs in the catalogues which exact displayed variation was never been into toy stores. :( :-?

The one to the right on this picture.

Bully verion in the middle.
