Hi again,

I will add the variations of the Hairdresser now, but when making the Guard-thread yesterday, I thought about the names used for these smurfs. So from now on I will try to add names used for the different smurfs, also in different languages.

BUT I don´t mean adding names like in every language, this would be to much. ONLY names used in Schleich catalogues, posters, leaflets, on cards etc. are OK. Meaning verified names used.

Also mainly then in English, German, French, Spanish etc.

I give you a couple of examples: the one I added yesterday I called Guard. I have not seen that name used??? Has anyone of you seen that used? I have seen english names like: Halberdier, Knight, Gladiator, Roman used when selling these but never Guard??? :-?

Other examples are names for Prisoner, like Convict or Traitor.

I will add them in the variationthreads, so I don´t mean like making a list.

So today, if you have names used for the Hairdresser-smurf other than the one I will write let me know!! :D

In Sweden the smurfs are blue ( and yellow).

I agree with TinTin....I like the idea of the adding the official names in the most common languages (I'd add Dutch as well), but would stick with the official names to keep the confusion down :D

The problem with the guard is which??? :-?

National used it first in english and then called him Gladiatior, then W Berrie called him Knight and the first time Schleich gave him a english name they called him Halberdier, but later changed it to Roman???

Maybe Halberdier is the name to use then???? :-? :? It seems everybody else use Guard??

I don't think half of the population would know what a Halberdier is..sounds like somebody looked for a literal translation and found one that is completely out of date :o

He does fit the description but..who would know?
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/halberdier

I guess, he ended up being commonly called Guard because it does describe him perfectly...I have seen him being called Roman Guard before (not officially) which seems to be a compromise that actually fits as he does look like a Roman (definitely not a Knight)

Personally, I'll stay with Guard as that is the name everybody uses..but may put a footnote on the page, stating this name was never officially used by Schleich or their distributors? :-?

Thinking of it...was this one in one of the comic books (King Smurf, I think) and used as a guard?
