In the SCCI letters ( letter 46) I found some info about the signbearers with trafficsign from Spain.
At that time, there were 8 different sign known, according to the picture.

I like them very much and I`ve managed ( after a long time) to find 10 of them :D
Does anyone know or have more of them?
I mean the trafficsigns ( not the signbearers with red and yellow objects )

Those are so nice Lia!!

It also says other items as ladders were used. Do you know which more than the ones described?
André

In Sweden the smurfs are blue ( and yellow).

Lia, what markings should they have and should they all have the same markings?

Do you know anything about their history?

Like you, I have been looking for them for years, but I don't know anything about them except that they come from Spain...were they originally intended as promotional products?

Mine are all marked 79 w.germany schleich peyo
I have no idea who made them and why??
They are always described as spanish promo smurfs, but no one has been able to tell me more about them :-?
Some are almost impossible to find, especially the motorbike and the one with spanish text.

Mine have all the same markings. And I don´t know which one is the 11th :-? :-?

About the history of these smurfs (both trafficsigns and other objects) I really don't know too much about them. I have them since 1980-1981(more or less) and my parents bought them for us (me and my twin brother) at the store where we usually went all saturday to buy them. So the years dated at SCCI letters are correct

In the first years of 80's there were very frequent campaigns of road safety for children, in all schools but smurfs were not the most popular characters...The great succes of them began with hanna barbera cartoons, two-three years laters, so I don´t think they were used as promo for "children"

I have my doubts about the signbearers smurfs with a ladder and a bucket together, but I am sure all the others were sold in Spain

Thanks for the great information Joaquin!! :-D

It is so good having collectors from different countries here and who can remember what happened.

Stories together with SCCI letters and markings, pictures etc. that is what I love with this forum and also what makes it possible for us to figure out what happened.

The marking should probably be the one used in the early 80s for the signbearer.

I received 7 of them today as well :woohoo:  DanielS

Now I am trying to categorize them for my website....would you consider them promotional smurfs or just categorize them as Spanish Variation? :?
