But one of each is marked Schleich on the arm.

Do you think the smurfs without the Schleich, was the ones Bully sold??? :-?

Maybe maybe good spot Andre. For this to be right, we need to find more "Schleich" smurfs from that poster without the Schleich mark....interesting....

Don't forget the smurfs without any markings that look like Bully smurfs. I personally think those were produced by Bully but for some reason they didn't put their markings on them :-?

Hi Maureen

these smurfs are Bully smurfs you are right. IMO they are very early variations of the smurfs which were then followed by the handgeritzt variation and then the normal mark. They are not however to do with this poster as this is Schleich smurfs potentially released under Bully in the years 1973-1976 and whether the Schleich molds were released during this time with Schleich removed

Well, it's finally sunk in what you are talking about...

Thank you both..you've answered a few of my questions as well....and brought up a few new ones :)

One question I have is...why did Schleich stop producing smurfs for three years....if it was a licensing thing..it seems odd to me that they picked up producing them again at the same time when Bully was still producing them :-?

I just have a hard time believing that Bully would sell these smurfs with Schleich-markings, if Schleich had stopped with the smurfs. And why would they sell them without any markings during these years.

My guess is that they removed the Schleichmarking.

I have another question. Do you know if Schleich have sold any smurfs without the Schleich-marking or the emblem???

I mean like on this sunbather.

The one with the Schleichemblem removed was probably not sold by Schleich, or??? Why would Schleich remove it?? :-?

Martin,

we forgot the smurf with traffic. This one must have been made by Bully also and maybe also sold 1980. I don´t have the Bully marked one, but the Bully mold Schleich used. Down to the right.

Andre this smurf was the fisherman released by Bully which Schleich then re-made as school traffic. The hardest mark to find is the old Bully mark as most are Schleich.

I wouldn't include it in the same category therefore as it is a mold used for an altogether different smurf.....

I will check my collection tonight for Schleich smurfs from that period without the Schleich mark

Best wishes

Martin

Right Martin,

I forgot that possibility.

Then I would say the DSK is wrong and it should not say Bully in variation 1 on 20154. Only Bullymold, right. Because Schleich would not release 20154 with Bully still on the smurf??? :o Or is there something I am missing???

Maureen and Martin,

you were talking about the first Bullysmurfs.

here you have them Maureen. These I believe were the first ones with no Bully marking only Peyo. All the ones on the picture don´t have any Bully marking. There should be one with the tongue out also but I don´t have that one.

After this they started with the handetched Bully on the Handstand to the Traveller smurf. The ones on the 2nd picture all are handetched. There should also be the smurf with the axe.

And all are in the same numberical order as on the poster.

What do you think??? Is it correct??

That is correct Andre!!

I think there are also some of these WITHOUT Peyo written ie no markings at all. They must have been released around the same time as they are made of the same soft PVC...

I do not know why Schleich let out some of the old Bully molds with the school traffic but they do exist-maybe they got sloppy, lazy...who knows??? :)

Thanks for starting this excellent discussion Andre I don't know what we would do without you!!

My pleasure Martin,

and I forgot.

The digger( 20043) is also on the poster and this also goes with only Peyo marking and no Bully in first release.

I have not checked Smurfette, Johan, Pewitt and Gargamel so I can´t say if they goes in the first on 2nd release by Bully. I know I have themwith handetched markings.

Great Lia, :D

you know I leave the hard ones for you. :o

Maybe you have the smurf with Axe, handetched Bully also? I would love a picture.

Martin,

I forgot to tell this also. The cardboard game with minismurfs was released 1975 and it has handetched bully smurfs.
So I would say between 73/74 Bully used no marking, only Peyo C.
1975 they started with handetched and
around 1976 they changed to the printed Bully.

Could this be correct?

I know, this is not the one you mean, but I like to show this special, genuine smurf with axe from Bully.
I don`t have the hand etched version.

Martin
Martin, do you think the smurfs without any markings which obviously are from Bully were the first ones released by Bully? I've always wondered why they didn't bother putting their mark (or any marking) on those smurfs.

Here is a very old discussion about the smurfs with no markings with a list as well
http://www.forum.bluecavern.com/viewtopic.php?t=7247

And here is a list of the Hand-etched bully markings

http://forum.bluecavern.com/viewtopic.php?t=2880

Both are very old threads so I am sure we can add smurfs to the lists

and these versions with handetched Bully was sold 1975. I think Bernd has 1974 in his catalogue, but then I would like to see these versions with only Peyo C on them also???? :-?

I guess these are the first versions of these if I understood you correct Martin. Eventhough it says 72 on both Johan and Pewitt and nothing on Gargamel.

And this Smurfette version was only sold by Bully, right?

But then to the Smurfette with no markings at all.

If you look at this picture.

All of the ones above have no markings at all. So this no marking version must have been very common??? :-?

The other 3 smurfette´s are from right Hongkong, Schleichemblem W. Germany and one very nice lightblue with red shoes( I don´t know if it is genuine or not???).
