I got a box long time ago now with the UK large house sold by national. In this box is the early leaflet by National where only a few smurfs are shown and also at the time only the large house and the garden furniture where sold in the UK.
The box also only contains the furniture and the house. But also 5 smurfs and the leaflet. In this thread I talked about the HKsmurfs Schleich made in around 1978. And I was guessing which smurfs could be the HK smurfs they talked about. I did not guess shiver, but it is from the same time also with this marking.
Kittys cavern says there was a time when both smurfs with yellow dot and smurfs without yellow dot where sold in the UK, and children was told not to lick on the ones without dot. In this box 2 has dots and 3 without. All are Schleichsmurfs are from 1977 and 1978. Among them is this shiver, which was made in Hongkong. It was before they added the made in hongkong on this mold. Maybe this was one of the hongkong-smurfs that had lead in the paint???
We know that smurfs were sold in the UK without dots in the beginning, and that some of those had lead in the paint but not so high it was dangerous, according to the ad both Bluebuddies and kittys cavern refer to. The ad in the times, 4th of october 1978.
Is it possible to find that ad somewhere on internet??? I mean like the ad we got from the spanish newspaper. It would be great to read that ad.
