Super Smurfs - Too many questions !

Hello everybody
I received the last Super I needed today so I brought them all out for a little photo shoot
(will post little pic when sorted)
While I was looking at them (well the boxes anyway) I started with all these questions. I love colour variations but I've never really paid so much attention to them with the super smurfs.
Please am I correct with the following;
- That the motorcross and log car variations have their own box, are there any others like this? eg. fireman?
- Did most of the colour variations eg. sled, chimney, skateboard come in the standard box and it was pot luck what colour you got?
- Where supers were released in the old
and new style box, is there always/sometimes/never a small difference somewhere with the smurf?
Over time I will try and browse more and make some notes but any info. that can point me in right direction would be much appreciated

Congrats on getting your last super, Sue
I haven't had a good look at my supers or the boxes.
It's funny, sometimes I don't notice things till I've seen someone post a pic and explain what the differences are. I must be blind, takes me awhile to see it and then when I finally do I can't believe I didn't see it immediately

Hi Sue
Here is a link to my site and the super smurf boxes I have which is no way a complete collection of course:
http://www.geocities.com/sgtpapas/super ... page1.html
As far as I know there isn't a Fireman box that shows the yellow jacket variation. I know the Hong Kong variations which were released in America (like the Motorcross & Log Car) have different boxes to the ones released in Europe.
Other that are different besides the Motorcross & Log Car would be:
40221 - Rocking Horse (the old box shows the variation with the rubber bands and the other with the plastic girdle)
40222 - Aeroplane (old box with the orange wheels, new box with the yellow wheels)
40224 - Papa Teacher (English version for America (old) and numeral version for elsewhere which is now standard)
40230 - Scooter (old version box had a yellow Scooter whereas newer version has the standard red Scooter) I am not sure that the yellow scooter was ever released publicly though.
40507 - Weightlifter (old version has the brown uniform whereas new version has the pink uniform)
40509 - Bars Gymnast (darker brown bars and light brown bars)
40510 - Rings Gymanst (red string variation and white string variation)
There are probably a couple of others too but here's some for starters

Thank you Maureen and Rae, it was nice to get the final one
Thanks for the link and info Dyar
I notice that you have a 4.0223 volleyball that shows a brown ball on the box - is it a brown ball inside the box too?
It appears that sometimes the picture on the box does not show accurately what is inside - so it's hard to tell if it's just the box that's different or something about the smurf as well?
eg. I looked at Go-Cart smurf boxes and thought the steering columns would be different but for real they appear the same?

No they were all maroon in those ones with the box. At least the W Germany & the Hong Kong variations I have all came with a maroon ball.
However the recent French Smurf Magazine series "Je Collectione Les Schtroumpfs" contained a China CE variation that came with a brown ball which is different of course to the previous productions of them. Unfortunately the magazines didn't come with any boxes for the super smurfs as they would of been different too I would imagine.

Hi Sue, congratulations on finishing the super smurfs.
I still have a lot of learning to do regarding the super smurfs so I was interested to see this topic. To be honest, until I get around to updating my super smurfs I have no idea as to what I have even got.
Thanks for the info so far guys.

Do you have all the supers?
I think I have one variation of each? I always liked the supers (they come in boxes
) so I think this is why I finished this set first
Dare I ask, which is your favourite?
I have to say Log car except I wish the smurf looked a bit different from the tricycle one
. Log car varaiation is definately high on my wish list right now

Cool
I think I have about 10 supers that I am missing boxes for, the rest are all out on display though and the boxes are put away.
So well done having all the boxes for them and some variations
