Lia, is that a purple sockel? I think Stace saw one on ebay a while back and was questioning it. I don't remember if she won it or not

The only sockel with that saying that I know of with this smurf on it is this one

Hi Lia I have seen this one discussed before.

I honestly don't know the right answer.

What does the glue job look like on the sockel?

I am increasingly more worried about buying sockels with the same writing as known originals but in different colours ( see recent post by Simon). I suppose Schleich could have made this for another series.....

I'd ask Bernd - he may well know

Best regards

Martin

There are no traces of glue, actually, it looks quite well.
And all the markings are correct.
But I share your worries about sockels, because everybody can stick a smurf on a sockel from an other series.
Yes, I agree, Bernd might know the answer!
Thanks Martin!

Seems we didn't come to a conclusion one way or another on the purple sockel though so it'd be interesting to hear what you find out :D

Hi Lia

Could the sockel be faded? I know that I have faded smurf items in the past and the smurf has not suffered any effects from the sunlight but other plastic parts have. Perhaps I could do an experiement on this one at some stage if I get a double of it. I just think that would be the most obvious answer even if it's not the correct one.

I have just been reminded that I said this last time too......I have a memory like a fish....but at least it's consistent I guess :-?

" Could the sockel be faded?"

No , it`s absolutely purple ( or lila)!
Markings are: figurengrusse von Schleich, and a big S in a circle, made in germany.
well, I`m gonna ask some experts about it:)

Please let us know to what conclusion you come....the markings show it's a real Schleich sockel, but I think it has the incorrect figure on it :-?

I think, smurfs are usually on yellow, red, and green sockels, a few white ones and a few orange ones from Australia...My sockels are packed away right now, so I can't verify this though...but I have never seen a purple sockel with a smurf on it, and I also have seen quite a few smurfs on sockels that originally had different figures on it.

I would also check with David (Dragon). He is an expert on sockels as well and has done some extensive research on them.

Here is a link to his wonderful site, which I use as my primary source for smurf sockels

Hi Lia,

I sent you a pm but just to confirm: You will find my message is very much on the same line as to what Maureen has just said above (I think she is quite an expert too you know :):):) ).

Purple sockels were rare in the Schleich range and I have never seen one in the catalogues for the Smurfs.

However I do not have all the catalogues for the time period were the sockels were in full bloom so I can't prove it either way...

Cheers,

David

I`ve received the opinion of 3 big experts on sockels.
All of them say that the sockel is genuine, the text is genuine and the smurf is original.
But no one knows this combination in this color.
So....I will keep it as a curiosity in my collection!
