Hi again,

I was wondering if anyone has seen the box these were sold in??? It seems all 16 were sold in a box together??

I mean the blue minismurfs marked peyo 1983.

I've seen the little Smurfs many times! All 16 were sold together in one box? I thought each Smurf was hidden in a separate box full of washing powder! :)

Btw. I've never seen one of "those" OMO boxes.

That's what I thought...I've always heard they came with the washing powder :-?

That could be correct as you say. They could have been sold separate.

I have started reading the SCCI letters again and this time making notes of all things that seems a bit odd.

And already in 1986, just after these have been sold, there is a seller offering all these 16 OMO´s in a attractive box??? He says 16 pieces in attractive box figurines represented. Off course this could be just a way he sold them??? :-? And the most logic thing would off course be that they were separate???

But I thought I should check with you if anyone have heard of such a box???

I will try to list all promos mentioned in the SCCI letters also since I have always found it hard to say which ones have been around for a long time and which have shown recently.

For example the OMO promo was mentioned already then and that could mean that both the minismurfs and the larger OMO promo was released around the same time?? Because 1983 is on the minismurfs 1984 could maybe be a good year??? :-?

Also they mention Fanta-promo, Schöller, Ice capades( For US market), Schöller, ASS cardplayer and also blue and white ice lolly( almost a promo  :D ) Smurfee already in 1986 .

I will let you know the complete list later.

Next to my pc ( and in my personal top 5) I have this little cabinet from France.
Absolutely original and very very nice!!!

I think there are only 16. They are all mentioned in the SCCI letters and also shown in the DSK. For example Christy have them all, as I think many other collectors also. The ones described in the SCCI letters are blue raws.

The cabinet looks fantastic Lia! :-D

But I think it could be just a sellers box they describe in the SCCI???

But I am pretty sure only 16 should exist?? :-?

The also mention the OMO promo with detergentbox already in 1986.

But it is also shown in the 1993 IMPS catalogue.

I think it is with no doubt that it existed in 1986, but do you think they just used one in this catalogue as an example or it was made once again???

How do you interpet this?? Did it not exist in 1986??

Thanks Frank!!

André,I have no idea when the Omo box was made
( when did they make the box with "have a heart " ??)

I don´t know Lia,

those hearts are also mentioned in the SCCI letters, both french and english, and I am pretty sure the hearts were used early, like I mentioned in the "ein Herz für kinder"-thread. So the hearts existed in the early 80s. :D

Actually when thinking about it, do you think they sold toys in the detergentboxes??? I remember we got a lot of disneyfigurines with cereals, cookies etc. aimed for children. But detergent??? Were they allowed to sell them that way?? :-?

Maybe they used a giftbox like the one used for the Albert Heijn smurfs a few years ago???

Another thing, these were licensed figurines approved by peyo, like the mini-smurf by Bully. At least that is what I think!! :D

I could be wrong, but I think I remember small toys included in washing powder (not necessarily smurfs though). They were in a small plastic bag, not a box... I know including toys with washing powder does not make sense at first, but think of it...a kid who wants that toy can be quite persuasive :)

That's why I consider them promos..they weren't sold in the boxes but included in the boxes (the boxes weren't more expensive than the boxes with no toys)..and yes, I am sure they would have had to been licensed or OMO would have been in a heap of trouble with Peyo :D

It would be great to find promo material or maybe even a washing powder box from that time as I am sure it had the smurfs advertised on it so buyers would know what's in there

That could be correct Maureen,

strange but possible??

I remember the toys in the kellogg boxes. Usually they were in the box but outside the plastic bag with cereals inside. Sometimes like you say they were in smaller bags hidden among the cereals or cookies and that was more fun, because then you had to search for it. :D

It's all about marketing..and the best way is to reach out to children who will go on and on in their cute little whiney voices about a product they want right now :)

One reason I remember those toys is that I used to put everything into my mouth as a small kid...EVERYTHING..and those toys would taste funny, weird, and yucky. I guess I learned that washing powder is not meant to be consumed :)

i never tought about if they were in a big box once or not?
I was alsways thinking they were in the boxes of washingpowder.. but now???
I also have soe painted and they do belong to my favourites too! Still missing some, but you'll never know when and where you find some.

By the way, Lia i love your displaying of those painted ones!

Big hugs

I have often wondered why there are so many complete sets of these smurfs without any doubles...For example you hardly see complete sets of the other normal Minis. :-?

Hi Simon,

if that is a fact then it most likely was sold all together.

I remember we had to eat a lot of cereals and cookies to find all the disney-figurines we wanted then. :D
