Christmas Prototypes

What are your opinions about the 3 Christmas Prototype smurfs? 
We see them sometimes on Ebay and then sometimes with different markingdescriptions. Sometimes without Portugal-markings.
How many do you think were made?
Are most of the ones on Ebay fakes?
Should they always have made in Portugal and W Berrie-markings?
I don´t have these and I am not sure how the markings should look like, eventhough I have many pictures from different collectors of these smurfs markings.
The only real clue we have regarding these prototypes are the ones in the SCCI-letters from 1990. This was only a few years after these were made so I would say that the markings described there are most likely 100% correct. Also the fact that just when these were made W Berrie stopped showing on new molds and only a few new ones with Applause were made after 1984. Just like the SCCI says that could be a reason why they dropped the idea of selling them, I mean if the market was dropping and Applause was not that interested in new smurfs to sell???
Are there more markings?? Or are all the others fakes? And how many with the correct markings would you guess are genuine ones??
