Hi guys,

I need some help on some history smurfs. Can anyone tell me if it is normal that the paint on the hat of the history smurfs is not clean but seems kind of rough?

thanks

:D

Hi puffuonecent, welcome aboard. :welcome:

You are absolutely right that the Historical smurfs have a slightly rough texture to their hats. I don't think it is the paint that is rough, I believe it is the actual mold. I am guessing the idea was to try and show that the smurfs are wearing "proper" hats as opposed to just their normal smurf caps. :D

Hope this helps. :-D

Thanks

Hi, thanks a lot for that. That explains a lot. You know with all the fake items around, one is never too sure. :-D

Do you know how these hitory smurfs came to be produced? Was it a particular occassion or anniversary?

Think they should produce more of these history related smurfs - find them more interestng than some others. - Who decides what kind of smurfs to produce each year ex. the halloween smurfs??

sorry for the questions :banghead:

thanks

oliver

Yes, I agree!
I purposed a Julius Caesar smurf or why not a Florence Nightingale smurfette?

Wah, I'm sorry - blame the vodka, or the fact that I haven't had any today :)

I agree Tor... Julius Ceaser would be my favorite. Agree too with Florence Nightingale... In fact seems strange that no history smurfettes exist eh?

Would suggest also Shakespear, Napoleon, maybe even Churchill!

A nice idea would also be to make smurfs with country national costumes....

Hi Oliver, I am glad to have got rid of your fears about them being fakes. I think the historical smurfs were only released in the USA, I am not sure if it was for a particular anniverary although I totally agree that more of these types would be cool, especially international figures. :-D

A Rolf Harris smurf complete with wobble board might be going too far though :)

Some of the Smurfettes are requesting a Dirk Diggler Smurf....personally, I am not that interested in one....although a lifesize Kate Beckinsale smurf would be perfect 8)

hmmmm Kate Beckinsale immortilised in PVC... hang on she did that in underworld ... hmmm Kate Beckinsale dressed as smurfette.. oh my self control couldn't handle it!

I agree about national costumes and history.. some of my home made customised smurfs have gone for that look. They are on the link below if you fancy a peek.. I haven't done Julius Squeezer yet but Napoleon's there in all his smurf glory.

I'm off to do more research into a Kate Beckinsale smurfette! Don't wait up I may be a while!!!!!

I just hope the New Zealander Smurf isn't wearing a sheep Daryl  ....j/k.....they would probably do that for the Australian Smurf too so I shouldn't speak too soon. :-?

As long as the Australian Smurf is wearing our traditional gear.....thongs (feet attire not undies), akubra hat with corks, zinc cream, esky, VB t shirt and stubbies. I'm surprised that type of genious fashion hasn't been seen more on the catwalks of London & Paris. :D

Thanks for the info Rachel. It is always good to get more background on one's smurfs. Smurfism never stops.

Nice site Kiwischlumpf. Nice customisations too. How do go do the different poses of the smurfs?

Hello Rachel,

I have heard from various people that these Smurfs were in French stores as well. Several Dutch collectors have told me that they picked them up in stores while on holiday there.

It looks like the Macau series was France (Europe) and the HK series US.

Dennis.

Hi Dennis, Thanks for that. I hadn't heard this so that is really interesting and also good to know about where the different markings were released. :-D

Great information!!

Thanks Dennis and Rachel.

That sound interesting. Could be great if someone really got also info on why these were produced. 8)

Going back to the list I would also add Descartes and Elvis Presley. Talking about the latter it would be a great idea especially since 2008 is the 30th anniversary of his death. It would be a great tribute - a smurfy elvis.

:D :-D

Wow yes, Smurfy Elvis, that would be excellent, has anyone ever done a homemade of an Elvis Smurf? Perhaps that would be a good idea for a competition, Smurf icons?

Karen: re Elvis ...Ahem.. er yes.. I saw the ones on interfool.at and made my version from theirs. I have a stand for him but haven't worked out how to decorate it.

Puffuonecent: most of these smurfs are broken/damaged smurfs that I have helped along damaging them in ways that make them look totally different .. adding and removing bits, then painting them up.

Syd Smurf: tsk tsk tsk we have so much more in New Zealand than just sheep.. :) like the Cricket, League, Rugby world trophies and king kong, lord of the rings, narnia.. and okay international sheep racing, sheep olympics and sheep film festival. Maybe we are the only competitor, but it'll catch on elsewhere.

Yeah, I add my vote to the motion (even though I have no history smurfs). It would be fun to see Schleich produce eight new historicals (though with the surging popularity now in Australia I worry the smurfs would be Ned Kelly and his gang...).

My votes:
1) Julius Caesar
2) Cleopatra (or Lady Godiva or Joan of Arc)
3) Queen Elizabeth (two smurfettes in this batch!)
4) Charlemagne
5) Peter the Great
6) Napoleon
7) Ramses the Great
8) Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (this won't happen...)

:o

If Schleich were to do Elvis Smurf, I would shriek until I fainted (preferably died). I realize his bloody house still packs in the tourists (I was even dragged there once against my will by a girlfriend's parents).

I AM SO THOROUGHLY SICK OF ELVIS.

Next come the Beattles. I like the Beattles, but for God's sake, I refuse to say prayers to John Lennon. Last, but not least, Jim Morrison. He sang great. But he's dead now. So sad. Next!

However, I'm willing to deal. Tell Schleich I'll go with the Elvis thing if they do a Janis Joplin Smurfette. And a Jane Seymour Smurfette.
