Feves are so cool
I'd never heard of them until we had a multinational lunch in our village & one of the French women made a traditional French Xmas cake with feves in it. We got 2 in our pieces, not smurfs but figures in German traditional costume.
Here's a fantastic link:-
http://www.epiphany-figures.com/
If you click on Themes, Smurfs are in the TV/Cartoon/Comic & Movie section....Click on the camera & voila! Happy clicking

Thanks for that link Tojo. My question is when the feve is in the cake is in incased in something else (like the kinder eggs have the plastic case around the toy) or is it just the item itself? Also does it get baked with the feve in it or are they somehow placed in there after baking?
something like that would never be available in the states, not with all the laws about small items in food. That is why kinder eggs are banned too, small toy in a food item causes choking hazard.

Hi Gerda,
the cake that Marie-Claire baked for us had the feves baked in it without them being encased in anything. I suppose it's a bit like our Xmas Pudding where a sisxpence is traditionally placed in the dough before cooking it.
If you click on the 'Welcome' tab there is a short description about the tradition & a photo of the cake.
Just in case Syd reads this post - he should check out the erotic section of feves
They'd shock grannie if she found one of those in her cake

Well since you mentioned it, I had to look too
Maybe you should warn Syd not to look at the first few though as he's not into those

Lovely new arrivals Gerda, I don't have any of these so it is great seeing your pics.
I think I would worry about eating one the speed I can manage to stuff a cake in my face!

.....I hope Santa brings me a couch for Christmas.....in dark black please
Does the dark black cover up the bruises from the ass-kicking you'll get from Mrs. Dyar?

It may allow me to hide with my clothing behind there....but yes the black eyes would be matching and it's important to choose matching furniture.
Actually....a matching piece of furnture my be an old decaying wooden box
Maybe I could go for the pastel black couch instead

I guess I don't know for certain but I thought I read somewhere that they are banned.. I know you can only buy them in specialty stores (like online at the german deli, and then theres a big disclaimer. Everytime you see a small toy on the market here some child safty group has a cow about it because it poses a choking hazard so I can just imagine what they would say about toys inside food
I don't know how many sets of smurf feves there are, They are only about 1 inch tall. VERY small but cute and detailed.

I thought your feves were absolutely lovely Gerda and thank you Tojo for posting the link to the website but....I wish you never had
because i went on "just for a nose" and have ended up emailing all my friends and family with a link to the site and strict instructions as to which ones to buy for my birthday in January
. They are all so cute...the cartoons etc that is NOT the zizis international
