GREAT NEWS... for me

I have some great news! I have officially started my collection. A couple of minutes ago I one an auction for my first 3 smurfs. I bought a brainy smurf, police smurf, and graduate smurf for $6, that includes shipping and handling. I can't wait until my smurfs get here! My mom says I can only participate in auctions once a day. I was wondering what you guys thought of the three. I am very happy with them. How many smurfs are in your collections? I know I'm nowhere close to you guys but I just wanted to know.

I think you are off to a great start! Personally, I'm into the regular smurfs and have a couple of complete sets ( but not all the variations , S.C.C.I., and promotional). Some of the collectors in this forum have absolutely fantastic collections. You should check out their web pages, you will be very impressed!

Congratulations on your smurfs, CT.....I hope you will like them and they will be the beginning of many more to come :D

I have just completed my basic collection...and have a few variations also but I am not sure how many smurfs I have..Most everybody that have seen my smurfs believe I have too many...but I prefer to listen to the two fellow collectors who have seen them and didnt' think I had too many :-D

I agree with Doreen, a lot of members have great website and you can use them as a reference guide also :D

Congrats for your new smurfs!!!!!!!I think it is a good beginning!!!Hope you will have more smurfs soon!!!!!!!
How many smurfs are in your collections?
I think it is better not to know...If some of the collectors of this forum tell you the real number of smurfs they have, I think your mum will tell you: only three auctions a day...

Nice to see your excitement!!!!!!

As you all noticed I am verry excited. My favorite was the graduate smurf. When they come I'll post there pictures. The suspense is killing me. I bid $1.00 for the lot of 'em. How much does a smurf usually cost?

:):) Very good to hear that you started !!!!

How much does a Smurf cost? Only how much you are ready to pay for one! and usually the more you want a particular one, the more you are ready to pay for one.

Ok I know this doesn't help much when you start. If you start your collection you will be able to pick up some lots of Smurfs for a very good price on eBay (watch out for the postage though if it's heavy). For example it is common to see lots of 50 Smurfs for around $20 or $30 if there are no rare ones in there.

Obviously as soon as you hit some Smurfs that many people are after, then the price will go up...

The "new" ones, by that I mean the ones that have been released this year or are still being made, will cost you somewhere around $3 or $4 per Smurf.

If you are in the USA, check out the Mushroom Village web site to start with.

Cheers,

David

That is a nice story to read CT and you have made an impressive start. I voted for the Police Smurf because Police Smurfs have treated me so much nicer than real policemen......unfortunately so much nicer than the policewomen too :( :o ...ahh where were we? Oh yes, smurfs. I am sure you will become just as addicted to collecting smurfs as we all are but that is not a bad thing as they are fun, harmless and there are worse things you can waste your money on.......also, you can always sell the smurfs and get some money back if you decide to move on down the track (don't tell anyone I said that though ok?).

It's nice to see you join us here and I am excited by your excitement of starting your collection. If you ever need any advice or help then you know that's what we are here for and would be happy to assist you with any information or advice as you go along.

Good luck with your collecting and I bet before too long people will look at your smurfs and say..."wow, you have a lot"

Dyar

Hi CT, good to hear you started collecting the nice bleu figures that i love so very much. I want to give you a good advise, if you want a fast growing collection, try to convince your mum how nice they are so that she start to look out for them too whenever she goes out to a fleamarket or anywhere else, even on her holidays. That's how naish 510, my daughter got me addicted to the smurfs. I hope you will have a great time on the forum too and wish you all the luck with the auction you are bidding on :D :ebay:

Unfortunately I lost the austion. I had to leave 24 minutes before it was over. Fortunately I made money to buy some more smurfs. :-D

Congratulations CT on starting your collection. :-D As Mum pointed out, I highly recommend you to look out for smurfs on any garage sale or fleamarket, you come across. And make sure you tell your mum about them. You could argue, that they are sooo cute and that it is much better to spend some money on smurfs than to waste it on drugs. :D Although, my parents are not that interested in smurfs, they gave me the Band as a birthday gift. :D

I liked the graduate in baby blue. Not so fond of the brown one. Probably because I graduated in blue. :D
