we had a wonderful day out in Kleve, Germany and we are heading to visit Xanten tomorrow. @SteveParkes: You would be pleased to find out about the Roman history of Xanten.

I'm fascinated by Roman history. The Romans had many settlments around here & the village where I live was once a large Roman cavalry & supply fort (the fort has gone now though but people often find old bits of pottery while digging house foundations etc). The Limes (pronounced leemers) (Germany's "Hadrian's Wall" but much, much longer) surrounds the Wetterau region where I live & there are lots of forts to be seen including the Saalburg which has been reconstructed. It's a great place to visit.

I didn't know the Romans were in Xanten but then again there were almost everywhere I hope you have a fab time there

By the way...While taling about the Romans...From next week on Tueday on I will visit Rome for ten days with the Latin students from my school! I will open a thread then, so we can continue to talk about Dom's trip here!
