Rock, metal, blues and a bit jazz. Non of the new dance hip hop "junk music" :) I have to many favourite groups and artist, it would take all day to write them down. I got over 400 cds and its still growing, and my computer is full of music. So music is a very big part of my life, and smurfs offcourse :)

I like anything thats a novelty such as cha cha slide, the birdy song, the laughing gnome is a big fave, the frog chorus. the sillier and the crazier the dance routines to them the better  :) :) :)
I do like trance, dance and rave tracks too!
Of course what would any music collection be without father abraham too :)

Smurfy regards
Steve :D

Hi Dyar,

this is what I listen to at home:

Blues, rock, metal, grunge, punk, indie, trad jazz, rock n roll, Irish folk (especially pure Gaeltacht music sung in Gaelic) but not the commercial stuff like the Chieftans etc, classic (but not the light fluffy stuff), Australian groups like Hoodoo Gurus & Ratcat

What I definitely don’t listen to:

pop (exception - Alanis Morisette), disco, dance, rap, opera, oompah oompah brass band, modern jazz, country & western

I've got around 1000 CD's & still have my vinyl records in the cellar.

Music :scratchinghead:

Just about anything except Country & Western, Brass Band and Male Voice Choirs.

I particularly like Progressive Rock, Acid Jazz / Funk, Ambient Techno and *some* Classical stuff. :))

Steve, funny you should mention the Birdie Song. One of my pupils played this last week as part of a double bass trio, you have never hearrd (or seen) anything like it. At least the examiner saw the funny side.

I also love the Frog Chorus too, a classic number! :mosh:

I love Gloria Estefan's music too. :D

And Olivia Newton-John of course, as most of you well know. :) :) :)

Andrew sent me an ONJ cd which also had John Farnham on and I've really enjoyed listening to him as well, and the other guy, Anthony someone.

I absolutely detest the music of James Blunt, I feel sick when I hear it, it makes me cringe, it's so yukky and depressing and he sounds like a parrot on speed. :-P

My favourite band at the moment is Kaiser Chiefs. :) :)

I've never heard this Blunt bloke but your descriptions of what he sounds like have made me determined not to buy his cd :)

Ah, James  Blunt... Terrible, terrible music.

I like Divine Comedy, Mike Oldfield, Hooverphonic, Wim Mertens, Tori Amos, Eels, David Sylvian... and many many more. Don't like Schlagers, Country, Death Metal, New Age, Mariah Carey, ...

It's hard for me to pick only a few artists too. I have probably around 3,000 albums at home and used to have a music room until it got smurfed over the last few years. Now all of the CDs are under the display hidden away.

I really like these artists:

U2, Hoodoo Gurus (Tojo :D ), Counting Crows, Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Grinspoon, You Am I, Powderfinger, Elton John, The Beatles, BB King, Eric Clapton, INXS, Hunters & Collectors and tons of other stuff. I do like songwriters more as I think they are far more interesting.

I really like Jazz, Classical, Blues, Rock, Folk....although I despise most rap & novelty dance orientated music. I like good dance music with a great groove.....any music that makes you want to move is fine by me but too much rap music comes across as just boasting which bores the hell out of me....the video clips are all the same too.

I worked with the singer of Ratcat about 10 years ago Tojo.....he was a good guy from what I saw.

I like all music, but I hate Techno rubbish...drives me crazy! Specially when u see people driving round in there little done up cars with techno blarring out thinking that the whole of the neighbourhood needs to hear it as well.... :banghead:

But I would have to say Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes are my favourite.. :D

Music is very important to me. I like a lot of things but dislike as many: pretty much anything played on day-time radio, pop music, dance music, country & western, reaggae, anything even remotely connected to pop idols, etcetera. I also think the music industry should be abolished.

The best band ever (for me) remains COIL, despite (or maybe due to?) their demise. Incredible music. I like (sombunall) metal (black, heavy, speed, doom, grind, industrial), same goes for rap, and definately electronics. Particularly experimental music, and genre-defying music (which COIL happened to excell at). Other artists (glancing at my 'MP3'-folder on my work computer, so by no means complete): Alice in Chains, Bohren und der Club of Gore, Bolt Thrower, Boris, Dødheimsgard, Earth, Emperor, Hypocrisy, Khold, Lard, Meat Beat Manifesto, Merzbow, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Obituary, Ozymandias, Pop Will Eat Itself, Quoit, RevCo, Satyricon, Saul Williams, Slayer, Snog, Sunn O))), The Berzerker, Thighpaulsandra, TV on the Radio, Ulver... I could go on, and on.

Update: I'm updating my own band's site so I can't show you what I like to make myself, except for this little song I did with a friend for another friend of ours. It's in Dutch and it fits the 'receiving' friend perfectly, and I was pretty happy with it.

Last night after the late shift I listened to 3 CD's of one of my all time favourite bands. I doubt whether many people have heard of Half Man Half Biscuit but I love them. They come from the Liverpool area. Very funny lyrics & quirky riffs :D

I forgot to mention that I also really like Ska music, especially original late 60's recordings.
