my cat just lost one of his lives

When I came home today my cat had nothing better to do than to leave part of his wet business under the litter box, 
so when I soaked the place and left the box put up. he went in and threw it down on the floor. 
..with all the sand landing outside. 
.thankfully I had just cleaned it, so it could have been worse, but I did enjoy thinking of all kinds of different punishments for him while cleaning that mess up 
...made me work faster.... 
I think he is quite exhausted now, because he is lying in my room now on MY easy chair (actually it belonged to my great-greatgrandmother, but he thinks everything in here is his
) and is sleeping peacefully
My next inside pet will be a dog
