I guess, some of you or most of you know that my primary Ebay ID is named after my cat paulchen...Paulchen is no longer....He was so weak and about to fall into a coma when the vet put him to sleep...he went peacfully with me stroking his head....I have spent the last two days trying to save his life but in the end it was a battle neither he or I coud win
I am going between feeling numb and distraught and I am listless...Paulchen has been around me for the last 8 years whenever I was home so it is a new feeling not having him come after me...
I am attaching a picture of him that I took during his last hour at home.... He was a very beautiful cat and stayed beautiful to the end.

Hi Maureen, I am very sorry to hear this, the saddest of news.
Losing a pet is never easy but you can feel happy with yourself that you did all you could and he was peaceful and with you at the end. You are right, he was a very beautiful cat indeed, handsome with a look of dignity to him.
We recently lost our cat and like you I was there at the end so I really do send my heartfelt sympathy as I know this is such a sad experience.

Thank you all for your nice comments...
He got really sick last Wednesday and I truly expected him to die that evening..When he didn't and seemed to get stronger I got new hope yesterday and even this morning, until he had a second seizure around 11a.m. that's when I knew I couldn't do that to him and took him to the vet..
The past two days have been emotionally draining...I never understood how people can get so attached to animals, but that was before I had any myself

hi Maureen, i want you to know that i'm feeling sad for you. Loosing your dearest cat is very sad, but you know he isn't in any pain now and i think in time you will only think about all the good times you had with your good friend, without tears in your heart. i hope you are doing ok
and know that you are in our minds.

I am sorry to hear he has finally lost the fight for survival. I guess he was sick for a while and like Christy says, he isn't in any more pain which is something.
I hope you will be ok

Hi Maureen,
I am very sad to read that you have lost your beloved Paulchen.
I had my first cat for 23 years and have two more now, and I know that their pain is our pain.
I hope your cherished memories help to ease some of the sadness
You will never lose in your heart those wonderful years you spent together.
Take care.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
