Hi guys

As some of you may already know I just came back from an 8-week trip in America. I was fortunate enough to get some temporary work over there and managed to see a bit of the country as well. I managed to hang out for a while in 6 states (Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, Nevada & California) plus Washington DC as well.

I got to do many cool or obvious tourist things over there in each state but some of the other cool things I did were:

1. Picked up 27 new t-shirts so I have something to wear this summer...including 2 Slurpee t-shirts
2. Avoided most of the cold cold Australian winter
3. Got to drive on the wrong side of the road (often) in many of the states and managed to not kill anyone...including myself
4. Keep up with most of the forum most of the time
5. Was in the 2nd row for a stadium concert featuring Counting Crows, Live & Collective Soul
6. Watched "Deliverance" :sofa:
7. Went to many 711s around the nation and enjoyed a number of very nice Slurpees
8. Got the chance to catch up with Stace from the forum for a while
9. Chased squirrels & dears in Delaware & pesky fish in the Atlantic Ocean in Fort Lauderdale
10. Went to St Andrews School where they filmed one of my fav all time movies "Dead Poets Society"
11. Had some very nice (and some downright nasty) pizzas
12. Lost 2-1 in a game of bowling to Staci :banghead:
13. Found many new smurfs for my collection in Pennsylvania & Maryland
14. Went to a fireworks night at Longwood Gardens
15. Played a game of rugby league for the Philadelphia Fight against Washington DC Slayers
16. Went up to the Amish territories around North East Pennsylvania
17. Discovered a cricket bat inside the American Indian Museum in Washington DC (I think they had the wrong Indians there)
18. Lost Syd in Philadelphia
19. Went on boat cruises up the canals in Fort Lauderdale
20. Went on some very large yachts in Fort Lauderdale
21. Watched some of the on-set filming of the new tv series "Chuck" on Santa Monica Boulevarde (and if lucky will appear on tv)
22. Saw them filming the new Will Smith & Charlize Theron movie on Hollywood Boulevarde and accidentally ended up with the extras recruited for the film where the stars were only about a metre away. Again if they use that take then I may be making my film debut
23. Got yelled at by some militant airport security office at Orange County Airport for trying to ask a question
24. Went to Disneyland in California and stole Winnie the Pooh's hunny before being bounced by Tigger
25. Got a little scared on the ferris wheel on Santa Monica Pier because I am a total wimp
26. Gambled and won and then lost and then lost again in Las Vegas
27. Found over 50 different types of Monopoly versions
28. Got attacked by ants at the Bellagio Casino in Vegas
29. Got my first set of thongs (flip-flops) since I was about 5 years old
30. Got told by Staci's Mom to not visit again until at least November

Here are a couple of pics to show what I did while I was in America

1. New Castle, Delaware
2. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
3. Concordville, Pennsylvania
4. Baltimore, Maryland

6. Chattanooga, Tennessee
7. Fort Lauderdale, Florida
8. Hollywood, California

11. Las Vegas, Nevada

The saddest thing though:
18. Lost Syd in Philadelphia
Don't remind me :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

So, just one question as it was difficult to tell by the photos:
Did you happen to go to any Hooters Restaurants while in the States? :o

Yes I did actually.....if you like I can post some pics of a few I went to?

As a friend I suggest you wait until the movie comes out Sue. At the moment the price for my autograph is very high due to the possibility of appearing in the film. Once the movie comes out and you don't see me anywhere in it.....well, I think those autographs can be bought very cheaply in bulk.

I may even be paying people to take them away from me.

It's a gamble though. Would you like me to save you one just incase? I am also goning to produce 5 exclusive limited edition autographs on special yellow paper (white paper that has been coloured in with yellow texta) but these really stand out compared to the common white ones that will be produced. Also the exclusive special yellow autographed paper editions will be signed in blue texta so they will look a lot different to the regular white paper signed autographs with black texta......kind of more.....greenish in appearance I suppose.

For those of you who are a bit short of cash there will be a cheaper version signed in crayon by me or Jack on toilet paper. Obviously these are not as nice as the special yellow production or even the common white versions but still good value for the price and can be used in other ways if I fail to make the movie.....so kind of a win-win situation really with those ones.

Oh, you did take photos...that's awesome :-D

Sue, with so many options, I think you might wanna reserve an autograph now...you can send me a deposit and I can hold that until the movie and/or tv show goes on air so you are guaranteed some sort of autograph :D I'm kind of partial to Jack's signature in crayon on toilet paper though (especially since it can be used for another purpose :bogroll: )

Those are great photos Dyar & it's cool to see you had a brilliant time. Losing Syd is an absolute bummer though but maybe he just didn't want to go back down under & did a runner instead :-?

I'm looking forward to having you back at the forum again  :D

Welcome home (?????) buddy.

Glad to hear and see you had a fabulous time and got to visit so many wonderful places and of course, so many Hooters. How many new t-shirts? Good God, you could have bought some smurfs with that money!

18. Lost Syd in Philadelphia

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :aargh:

Oh that is sooooooo sad to hear. :(

On a lighter note, are we likely to see him in any big movies soon. You know he is a bugger for the cameras. :-?

Ode to Syd

There once was a cool smurf called Syd,
He was the cheekiest smurf to have lived,
He could be naughty and bad
Cause he was a hell of a lad,
But now he is gone he is missed................. :rip: :rose:

................. :rip: :rose:
He's not dead, Rach, at least I won't believe he is. Knowing him, he took off with some rollerskating floosies down by the Liberty Bell but also knowing him, he's probably having the time of his life :-D

Please don't remove my title either even though I'm a very bad keeper :( :( :( but I think I should keep it all the same

Thanks for the ode Rach :D

To tell you the truth it wasn't actually me that lost Syd but I am sworn to secrecy so I can't reveal the fish in question regarding this. At the moment Syd Jr has taken over as my travelling buddy and he's every bit as feisty as his Dad....at least we think Syd was his Dad. He looks like him but there's no telling who or how many Signbearer's Syd fathered in his (roll in the) hey day.

Yes I over did the t-shirts and clothing once again but when I saw an amusing t-shirt (didn't mention the Lucky Hooters t-shirt I got in Vegas either) I just had to have one.

Speaking of Hooters.....I have actually only ever eaten at one Hooters which was in New Castle, Delaware. The waitress took away my fries as I was still eating them and I have to say I wasn't that impressed by them....but now every time I see one I just have to get a pic there for a running joke that I have going. It's one of the many themes I've had on my travels like Hard Rock Cafes and several others places and things that make me happy......small things please small minds I guess.

Don't you just hate those clown fish...always goofing off and never keeping track of their smurfs

Hi Dyar :welcome: BACK.......

It looks like you have had a 'hoot' of a time in the states!!! :)

I haven't known Syd long but he will be sorely missed :( I would be heartbroken if one of my smurfy pals went astray. for you!

It's nice to know that his 'son' has stepped in as his rightful successor. Can we have some pics, please? :-D

I will delete all these pics in a week so I don't break the forum

The first 2 are some of the final ones I have with Syd

The 3rd one show me a little depressed....it may be because I lost Syd...not sure

The 4th one shows that I got over losing him pretty quickly
