Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

Hmmmmm :scratchinghead:

The mushroom top certainly doesn't look very red does it? It is always difficult to tell from a pic because of the lighting but compared to the other red in the pic, it does have a yellow tinge. Well spotted Steve. :-D

Regarding the fakes, again, I can't be 100% sure but just judging by the amount in the lot, I am going to guess that these are in fact the newer, very hard plastic fakes. :-?

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Can I ask a silly question?

Is the "yellow" in these yellow mushroom smurfs painted on or is the PVC that colour?

I only have one of the light red (orange) mushroom smurfs so I was just wondering... :-?

No question is silly Renne. :-D

The yellow isn't painted on, it is the PVC itself. There has been quite a bit of debate as to whether these in fact have been faded from the original orange / red colours or whether they were this colour originally. I have one and I am fairly sure they are not faded as if this was the case, I would expect the PVC underneath the white dots to be the original red colour but this isn't the case.

There do seem to be varying colours with these from quite a bright yellow to sometimes a light orange.

It is certainly an interesting figure. Here is mine. :D

Hi Andrew, i dont think they are making fake yellow tops now, but some faded mushroom smurfs and bad photography sometimes make it difficult to tell if its really a yellow mushroom.

What is it about the color Yellow with Schleich? Did anyone else ever notice that most "rare" color varitations involve the color yellow.. for example yellow mushroom, brainy and yellow glasses, yellow shiver, yellow scarf sledder, yellow chimney sweep, yellow shirted leafboarder, yellow topped lantern.... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but it makes you wonder if they had a color shortage at the factory so only a few get painted this way

Hi guys, yep we (me & Steve ) discovered a few years ago that the yellow variations ie. yellow brainy, yellow skateboard etc. were only released in the UK.

Here is a bit more info:

http://www.blueimps.com/smurfs_news12.html

I am no longer 100% sure about the yellow scarf shiver as you do see him popping up in other places too.

I don't think that the yellow mushroom was another UK variation as it has Hong Kong markings and most of the UK smurfs were W. Germany BUT having just thought about it, you do see the yellow ones pop up in the UK a fair bit. I got mine in the UK and I know David did too. Steve, how about you? Worth thinking about though? :-?
