I have received some Minimodels today...Most of them have the normal markings, but there are two or three with the marking below which confuse me

Are these also markings of the MiniModels? What confuses me are the three lines on the left foot.. :-? :?

What do the three lines read? It's hard to tell from this photo. I can check my ONE minimodel when I get home (again) for you

Hi Maureen

99.9 % minimodels i am sure.
I have seen a few before.
Most of the times they have either minimodels written on them or
nothing at all.
But why 3 stripes, sorry no anwser to that.
Most minimodels you recognize by the painting of the "tail"
just a tip of blue paint.

Greetings Tintin

Hi Maureen, I am pretty sure none of my Mini models have a marking like this although I will check whan I have a minute. :D

I do have a theory on the lines though as I am pretty I have seen this before. I would say that it is an older marking that has been covered over for a new mold. Maybe Minimodels originally used some old Schleich molds for an early production and simply covered over the older marking before adding their own...... :-?

Rachel, it does look like it covers something up... :-?

I am not sure they used older Schleich models though, as the PVC of this one is harder than the Schleich ones of the same smurf....

I got them from a seller in Argentina and the blue is the same shade as the blue of the smurfs with the MiniModel marking....
And only the tip of the tail is painted blue, as TinTin pointed out this is another marking of the MiniModels

I'd be interested to see if anybody else has smurfs with this marking :-?

I'm quite sure the three lines are covering something. Even Schleich seems to have done that to cover Bully-markings!
Watch this photo of two of my pirates (Don't wonder about their position... :???: ): You can even see a little bit from Bully's "y" under the line. It wouldn't surprise me if there are no Schleich-pirates with the mold-number 1.

So I think it's sure that the MiniModel-lines are covering something...But: What? :???: I only have one Minimodel that has the "Industria Argentina etc." marking. The left foot's marking is the same as the right foot's marking of your smurf.

Hi Simon,
thank you so much for that picture....it looks very interesting...I have never seen that before or heard about it.... :D

It is interesting to see though that Schleich indeed did cover up some markings :o

Great pic and example Simon, Thanks.

Hi Mo, I was really talking about the molds rather than the actual material. I am thinking they have altered the older mold. :-D

Thank you everybody for your replies....I actually have two with this marking, so I am very relieved they are MiniModels, as I bought them as such...the others have the standard MiniModel marking :relieved:

Now that I am getting into buying other smurfs than the normal ones, smurf collecting has just become a bit more complicated...but also even more fun :-D
