The 07/07/07 concertaround the world started last night in Sydney and I've been watching most of the concerts on the net.

A lot of great bands - if you like music, you might wanna check out the live feeds and they are replaying a few of the shows already in case you missed them live:

I am watching it right now Stace, great music indeed.

I am just getting ready to go out this evening for a school reunion so it is great to enjoy with a glass of wine. :cheerz:

Yes, yes. I will be asking old school mates if they have any smurfs in their attics. :-D

Talk about good timing :D

I wanted to see Duran Duran as I hadn't seen them perform in a long time, but wasn't sure I would be able to, as I wasn't sure when Mum would drop in.......Duran Duran had just gone off the stage...when Mum's car drove up :) :) :) Talk about good timing indeed :-D

I've missed this totally - I had no idea this was even happening!! It shows how little this was publicised here in quaint old germany. oh well.....

Spinal Tap would have been funny to see :)

Wow, Tojo, and there is a concert in Hamburg too - not publicized is an understatement!

I am surviving on 2 hours sleep after I decided I could miss watching the concerts from 6am-9am this morning without missing anything I wanted to see.....although I only slept until 8am before deciding to get up and stare at the tv again like a zombie again....although I was deliriously singing and dancing in the early hours in front of the tv in a very happy mood and making a mess with the popcorn all over the loungeroom floor. Kate and me have been dancing all day to the music and having a fun time.

I recorded about 8 or probably more hours of it on my pc.....I just have the task of editing them all and cutting the songs up into individual tracks now. I did the Crowded House one already last night and it sounds really great. I thought Jack Johnson from the Sydney show was really cool as well as Crowded House, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins and Paul Kelly.

The London & New York shows had the best line ups though and I would of loved to of been there personally to see them....especially The Police :D among many others.

We only got highlights from around the world but I asked Stace if she could record the US show for me which was very nice of her (thanks fishy...I take back those comments about you being....um, difficult last week) so I will get a copy of that a bit later on....if I am forgiven.

I liked the short film (from London) about the shopkeeper and the plastic bags if anyone saw it....but I got totally sick of seeing a Dustin Hoffman commercial for Telstra (telephone company) about a million times over the last couple of days/nights where he says he's moving to Australia at teh end of it...wish he would hurry up and do it so I didn't have to be subjected to the same commerical over and over for like 36 hours non stop.

It was a great event though and I will continue to recycle my jokes if it helps to save the planet :D

Sounds like you had a good ol' time watching and dancing and making a mess.... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Hope it all works out with the CDs :D

It was a great event....even though I could have done with more music and a bit less of the commericals  :)

Good thing fishys have short term memories as I suppose you are forgiven since I don't recall any comments. You now have 12 more hours of the US show to watch...I don't think you need to stay up and see it all in one sitting though! There were tons of highlights from around the world in between the US sets too. When I changed tapes, Red Hot Chili Peppers got cut off but thankfully they ran the exact same clip later on so all was good with my one recording malfunction. DMB, John Mayer, the Police sets were awesome - John Mayer played with Police on "Messenger in a Bottle" too. Melissa Etheridge was talking during her songs too and was hilarious I thought...not sure what she was on, but it worked :)

Amazingly this was the only short film I managed to see and I laughed me a$$ off at it. Especially when they just kept slapping each other - it was great. Mom had to ask me what was so funny - she didn't get it. I guess she slaps people all the time and doesn't laugh at it :-?

We just have the slapping in common...when she was 8 she once beat up a little boy and ripped the pocket right off his shirt. I guess I got my feisty genes from her...oh wait, Dad is quite feisty too so I have a double dose of it :D

It sounds like I've missed a lot of great music here :x Mind you I couldn't of watched it anyway unfortunately as I had to work all night :(

It sounds like you had a lot of fun Dyar but who had to tidy up the popcorn afterwards? I suppose Kate could have crawled about gobbling it up :)

Jack cleaned it up actually. I just grabbed his ankles like a wheelbarrow and ran him over the carpet like a Hoover as he gobbled up all of the popcorn that didn't make it in my tummy. He did complain a bit but I was the responsible parent in charge and can yell better so he did what he was told.....unfortunately I accidentally made him swallow lego parts, a paper clip and Darth Vader.......but the carpet looks a lot better and is all ready for more popcorn & dancing next weekend. I just hope Jack is out of hospital by then cos he was very handy helping me to clean up the mess.

I listened to the Jack Johnson set last night on a cd I made and he sounds awesome.....probably my favourite performance so far but it looks like I have a few more hours viewing when I get the tape from Feisty soon.....opps, I mean Fishy.

It was funny cos the lights failed towards the end of the Crowded House set in Sydney and they had to perform a song or 2 in complete darkness before they put the big lights on over the stadium that they use for sporting events. Neil Finn commented half way through the song "Something So Strong" that they were obviously making a point of saving energy. Like true professionals they just carried on and didn't let the distraction ruin their performance.

How about next year we have Live Smurf concerts instead to raise funds for the poor smurf collectors of our planet?

Live Earth was awesome, but German tv didn't show Alicia Keys's & Keith Urban's awesome version of "Gimme shelter". At least, I was lucky to see her own performance. :( Also they didn't show John Legend's show. :(

However, I enjoyed watching Crowded House, Linkin Park, Shakira, Genesis", RHCP, Metallica, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and The Police.
( btw.why did the Brazilian audience behave really odd towards him and Pharrell Williams?)

Nevertheless, I taped the whole show, but I bet it is going to be released on DVD.
