Hi guys, Thanks to Karen, I can post the smurfs which will be discontinued in 2008.

Regular Smurfs

20442 Inline Skater
20473 Hiker
20526 Benchwarmer Smurf
20528 Goal-Getter Smurf
20529 Trainer Smurf
20530 Fan Smurf
20531 Fan Smurfette
20535 Grouchy

Playsets

40602 Smurfette´s Bedroom

I think it is a shame that Grouchy is going as I particularly like the "Classic" set from a couple of years ago. Also it is suprising to see the Inline Skater smurf but not the smurfette so in effect, splitting this nice double set up.

No Super Smurfs going but the Smurfette Bedroom Set. :-?

Now we just have to wait to see what new ones we are going to get............ :hyper:

I understand retiring the sport Smurfs, but GROUCHY?! He's my favorite sculpt among the classics. If they're going to retire one of the classics, I'm surprised it's not Vanity, as he seems to be the "pegwarmer" of that wave in every store I've been in that carries Smurfs.

:) :) :)

Yes I also agree that Grouchy is not the best choice to delete from production.....think Gift & Doctor are easily in their retirement ages now after about 30 years straight of being produced.

I did think that this Grouchy looked more like Sulky than Grouchy though.

I can't wait to see the new designs......I hope they are good ones :D

Great info, any idea about when we'll know what the new ones are going to be? A new playset to replace smurfette's bedroom would be good, ideally greedy's kitchen or handy's workshop...ah we can dream.

Agree think Doctor could go, infact I think they really could mould a new doctor if he's that popular (I realise there's Quack as well but I can't really see them bringing him back), infact a whole set of 'work' smurfs could work for their 'set' theory.

Hi Smurf1303

(I thought almost all smurf numbers would begin with a 2 (or a 4 or 5).)
Anyway, I agree with you, Handy's workshop would be just brilliant.

Yours truly
Gert :D

Hi Helen, I am guessing we should hear something around about the beginning of November. :D

Maybe I'm reading too much into a playset being discontinued but I wonder if the smurfette's bedroom going is a good sign that we may get a new playset :cloud9: :badger: :-?

Thanks for posting, Rachel and Karen,

sad to see that Grouchy has been discontinued. :(

Me too, that's why I asked for a special anniversary set. :fingers:

Btw. I spotted a Smurfette bedroom set in old packaging about two weeks ago for 30 Euro. However the box was slightly faded. Would you recommend to buy it?

Postby Syd Smurf » Tue Oct 09, 2007 4:02 am
Normally I would say that 30 euro is too high for this but I am not sure how difficult these are to find in the old box these days.

I am guessing they are becoming rarer and in which case the price could become dearer to buy one of these so it could come down to how much you want to make sure you have one for your collection.

The old & new boxes contains variations so you would get a slightly different version of it which is always nice. However hopefully someone can let you know how rare or expensive these are. I think I paid around 15 euro for mine with it still sealed.....but by the time I took mine across Europe last year the box looked a little worse for wear than what it originally was.

Awwwwwwww thank you Dyar for helping me out. I guess I will have to wait, what the former comic seller is going to offer me in three weeks. I just can't wait ringing her up by November 1st. :D (That's why I try not to spend much money in Brussels). :D

You may find one with a nicer box in Belgium.....best to keep your money just incase perhaps
