I was just having some fun with my smurfs. As you do! And, I realised that I own two papa's that are the same in every way except for the mould numbers. I have also noticed this with other smurfs that I have as well.
My question is: "if two smurfs are identical but have different mould numbers are they considered variants?"
In the past, I have seen them as doubles but was I wrong to do so?

So far, I don't consider them variations, Sharon :D
However, I have noticed that often times there is a slight difference in their coloring and if that is the case I keep them :) :)

Some people collect the different mold numbers and call them variants..I've not got that far yet cause I've still got SOO many smurfs left to get..but one day I might (like I'll ever have everything  )
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

Werll, I really don´t collect identical smurfs with different number of moulds, but if I buy it as a mistake or in a lot, and it has different number than mine, I keep it for my collection

I wouldn't consider the different mold numbers only as variants either....unless there are obvious differences in the figure :D

Hi Sharon, I *try* to only keep different mold numbers if there is a noticeable difference with the smurf. I have noted mold numbers on a few figures on Blue Imps but this has been along with the description to show the other differences. :-D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Hi Sharon

I am the same as Rach in that I would only keep different mould numbers if they were actually different in colour or design etc (hey, I have to draw the line somewhere as I never want to part with any smurfs). However there are no rules when it comes to smurf collecting so if you wanna keep different mould numbers then I don't think anyone here is sane enough to argue with you. :) :)
