I would put a small fortune on the fact they WILL come to the Uk, based on some Sherlock Holmes-style detective work...

Basically on the 'euro map' on HappySmurfday.com they show the UK. Now, if you remember the old website smurf.com (the official one) whenever they did tours/showed video release dates, they NEVER showed the Uk. They always cut it out of the map.

My inner-Mulder says that, if they were not coming to the Uk, then why would they have included it on a 'map of europe'.... or INDEED translate the page happysmurfday into ENGLISH?

Couple that with the fact that IMPS seem to be 'slowly' bringing the smurfs into the british market... sweets are now in Topshop and shirts in Urban Outfitters.

All signs point to good news... in my opinion! :-D

I hope you are correct in your deductions Azrael, it's about time they recognised there are UK smurf collectors
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

I found an article yesterday that suggests the tour will stop somewhere in London. "The invasion of Smurfs" does not stop there as throughout the year, the small blue men carry a European tour, on the same principle as Angoulême, via Paris, Berlin, London, etc. (dates are not yet known)." I'd expect that to be one of the last stops they make towards the end of year. They'd have to re-panel the display to english.

I've been gathering together photos of the display. Find them all here:

Here are a couple of them:

Hi Brad, as usual you have done a stunning job of digging out this exclusive info. Have you ever though of journalism as a career? :-D

Keeping everything crossed that the expo is brought to the UK as I am sure it would be wonderful reminder to so many people who will have forgotten how much they used to love smurfs. :fingersx:

Is it just me though who thinks that the visits would work better in slightly smaller towns or cities? I can just imagaine the thousands of smurfs getting lost in amongst a huge city such as London or the expo would have to be concentrated in a very small area of the city. In fact I would go as far as to say that a Uk visit would work very well in Ystradgynlais.

I was thinking about that yesterday...Spain is the last country in Europe with people who read/wrote/speak/understand other languages...Before 1980-1985, most of schools teached french (only two hours a week during 5-6 years); and after thsi year english became the main 2nd language in schools, but with a few of hours a week too...The level of abroad languages in Spain is really bad, so I suppose if IMPS come to Spain with its tour, they have to re-panel too!!!!!!!!!!

Since this is meant for children, I'd expect them to repanel it for every country they go to :-D

Is that Smurf for Colchester? Cos then I'd have to agree with you! :)

Postby Guest » Sun Feb 03, 2008 7:27 am
Rachel, i agree with you totally :D Ystradgynlais would be perfect, i am sure the population of 24 would be no match for us smurfers, and its a village, not a town :o :) :)

Worth a try though? :neener:

Well technically if you count the smurfs that live here the population does rise a little bit.
