Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

This was the email reply from UNICEF UK:

Unfortunately this is a UNICEF Belgium fundraising initiative and as such, Smurfs are not available to purchase at UNICEF UK .

Thanks Emi. Does that mean they're not coming here at all then? :( :(

My dad is going to ring the head office in Brussels... :D

Postby Gerda » Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:48 am
Kind of a stupid response as I don't see the money being any different if it comes from people in Belgium or other parts in the world. You would think they try to make as much as possible therefore be willing to send it anywhere as long as he buyer is willing to pay :-? not very good business sense if you ask me

Maybe it's because of shipping.
Here in Italy many companies pay discounted postage rates (more than 50% off regular prices) but only for domestic deliveries and that's why they don't ship abroad.

At least you have received an answer from unicef!!!I haven´t!!!!!!

And I agree with Gerda: I think it is a stupid and easy answer...The seller is going to pay the shipment...SO it is the same for them: ten euros for their charity jobs!!!!

I fully agree!
I have no idea if the Dutch Unicefshop ships abroad, but at least, they can be ordered by us. I was very lucky in finding a white smurf myself past friday in Den Haag.

I know I am a pretty sad case. when I went to town with my mother on Saturday I told her all about the Unicef smurf campaign and bored her nearly to death...anyway, she told me today that she will be traveling to Stuttgart, Germany in two weeks and stay there for two weeks...and the first response out of my mouth was" Well, if you see a white smurf laying around...can you pick it up for your only daughter?" :) :)

To prove how sad she is..she replied "Yes, I already thought of that." :) :)

I know the chances are pretty slim that the campaign will be in Stuttgart at all, and if so it won't be in two weeks...but hey...I can dream with the best of you :cloud9:

Awwwww if only I had been to Scheveningen. :( Thanks for sharing your pics, Ron!!! :D From now I assume that the exhibition will go to any places associated with smurfs namely. However I don't know which German town might be associated with smurfs and why? Any help?

They must come to England. :banghead:

Why bother translating the websites in English if not?! Plus, London metro run that article point to 'yes'!

I still think they will... but maybe not London?
