Hi,
The title is my question: Do you think that (sun)light could damage the smurfs, and bleach the colours?
I ask, because one of my two smurf cabinets is standing directly opposite to a window where the sun often shines through (maybe two or three meters between them)...
Any experiences?

This is something that I have also thought about Simon & that's why my smurf cabinet is next to a window where it doesn't get any direct sunlight.

There has been talk of colours fading here such as Staci's experiment to create yellow mushrooms from red ones for example. Whether other colours are also affected by sunlight I've no idea.

I would also not let them be in direct sunlight, mostly cause of those experiments Stacy did...

Good points, Tojo and Sandra The colors can definitely fade on the smurfs if in direct sunlight....some colors will obviously fade more or differently than others. I also keep mine out of direct light too (mine are in a room with NO windows but that's because it's the only room in the house where I can put my collection lol). The umbrella smurf is the one I experimented on (see this thread) and I am still working on Steve's umbrella. Hard to fade the little guy when it's winter here but he had a brief stint in the Aussie summer heat before coming back to me

My smurf room has some windows but there's no sunlight here anyway so that's not such a big problem. Sometimes in the mornings there can be a ray of light or two....if I'm lucky and get up early.

I have had one of my Smurf Air Fresheners, the one with his thumb up and a red helmet under his arm, on my truck dashboard for five years. It has endured temperatures from -20 degrees F to over 110 degress F, and the only thing that has changed color is the green base to blue. I also have a Snoopy and Spongebob Sqaurepants on the dash, and they also have not faded or melted over the years.

I think the smurf blue is pretty sun proof...I have never kept my smurfs out of the sunlight and it never has harmed them or their coloring in any way or fashion...On the other hand, I have never kept them in the sunlight on purpose either (see Staci's experiment)

I just love to have the windows open in the summer, and everything in my house has the normal sun exposure...

The room where my smurfs (and the dogs, coincidentally) doesn't have direct sunlight as it's in the middle of the house. It's one window looks out onto the conservatory which does catch all the sun. My smurfies are safe from any potential sun damage and the dogs are nice and warm!

I think there is pretty good evidence to show that "some" colours can fade on the figures. I have never really had much concern here as we have blinds up in the smurf room so there is no direct sunlight going in there but then again, UK sun is no-where near as strong as some countries.

So, as the smurfs are not totally directly in the sunlight, there mustn't happen anything to them.
But maybe I will put something like a jalousie or a curtain in front of the cabinet, as I don't want to take any risks...

Agreed with previously said, that some places have more intense sun light and this affects certain colours more than others.. ditto raw PVC. .. You may have to store any vampire collections away from sun light too

Also keep out of reach of children.. these are worse than vampires to smurfs as they will bite them !

So are dogs! I lost a smurfy this week to a whippet. Luckily it wasn't one of the collection but a spare, but even so.
