I got it pretty cheaply at Passion and I knew about it before, but have no idea what it promotes :-?
By Googling the web, Petit Gervais seems to be a brand of yoghurt belonging to the Danone group.

Thanks Tojo and Mum :-D :-D

Here is another one

The Grand Bazaar Promo smurf (hard plastic material). I didn't know that GB is a grocery store in Belgium until I saw it with my own eyes when I stayed there last year :-D

Image
Here is the Promo sticker, too (thank you again to Christy for this one )

Image

I was very surprised to see that GB is a grocery store (it is, isn't it?) because the promo smurf they released is a magic one. Any ideas why they came up with this figure? I am also interested to learn if this was a promotional figure that you got in the store if you bought anything kinda like they did this year with the Albert Hein smurfs :-?

I don't think it's a rare figure in Europe..but you don't see it too often in the US..and it is a very nice figure to have :-D

SmurfySteve has very kindly allowed the use of 2 pictures he has on his forum :D

The first advertises the Grand Bazaar smurf. The smurf appears to have been released in 1990 & was available on 27th, 28th, 29th September from 9am until 8pm & was given to kids under 12 years old.

Do any of our Belgian members remember the promotion?

Image

The second picture shows the smurfs with a tin of Gloria. Is there anyone here who can translate it properly as my French is pretty rusty... Is this advertising the Gloria promo?

While I'm posting, The only promo smurfs I know about are the ASB / Malteser smurfs that came out in 2004. This is where they were offered & where I ordered mine from:

http://www.malteser-modelle.homepage.t-online.de/

click on Aktuelles Angebot & then on Schlümpfe & there they are.

Here is some information about them that Pete at Mushroom Village posted on his website:-

2004 MALTESER PROMOS

Many of you are familiar with 20054 Malteser Smurf that was produced last year by Peter Neubauer, an avid volunteer for the Malteser Hilfsdienst (Maltese Aid Service). This promo was such a successful fund raiser for Peter that he decided to produce more promo Smurfs to raise money for his charity!

This time, Peter got permission from 2 other charities to produce promo Smurfs bearing their logos. Each charity receives half of the Smurfs produced with their logos, and they are given away to bring smiles to those in need of some Smurfing up, such as children in ambulances. The rest of the Smurfs are sold at a premium to pay for the project, and to raise funds for Malteser Hilfsdienst.

Since these promos were produced by a "regular person," we were treated to some insights into the promo process, compliments of Peter. Thank you Peter for sharing the story behind these Smurfs!!

Peter began by taking regular figurines and gluing small paper logos to the Smurfs where he wanted custom printing to appear on the finished Smurfs. These prototypes were submitted to IMPS, which used digital imaging software to create "virtual prototypes." These were digital images of the Smurf molds to be used; with digital text emulating Peter's desired logo imprints, and custom-colored according to Peter's specifications. These digital prototypes were then sent to Schleich, who produced the actual prototypes and sent them to IMPS for Peter's approval.

Upon Peter's OK, the production was ready to begin!!

The new promos honor the German helping organizations Malteser Hilfsdienst, Malteser Jugend (Malteser Youth), Johanniter Unfallhilfe (Johanniter Accident Assistance) and Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross).

This is my favourite promo of all of those that I own. As many of you know, I work for Commerzbank so I just had to have this & got it at Michelle & Veronique's stand last year :D

Image
Image

There is another version with a white helmet with 'Commerzbank' written on the side but I sadly don't own one of those. I know that at least one member here at the forum has one though.

I wrote to our promotion department to find out something about the promo & they said that it can't possibly be from Commerzbank as they have their own mascot (Goldi the hamster) so have no need of using a smurf! Why MERC put Commerzbank on the smurf I have no idea at all :-?

MERC stands for Mannheimer Eis- und Rollsport-Club (www.merc-eishockey.de) & they're an ice hockey team.

Tojo, is Commerzbank a sponsor of MERC? :-? It's a great promo in any case..and it's pretty rare, isn't it? :-D

Those Karamalz promos look amazing Dennis, and I think I see another promo in that picture as well. :-D Does anybody know the background of those Karamalz promos?

Great job on getting your first Silan smurfs, Bill. I know it's not easy getting nice promos over here in the States. I think I started out with them, too..so there is no help for you now :) :) You'll be buying more soon, me thinks

In the email reply that the advertising department sent me they seemed to deny all knowledge of this smurf:-

"Es muss sich bei Ihrer Abbildung um eine nicht autorisierte Schlumpf-Sonderfertigung handeln, die es eigentlich überhaupt nicht geben darf!"

I really don't know how rare these smurfs are but I can't imagine that they were made in large amounts :-? I would love to have the other version too but I think that I'd have more luck in getting a Treestump :)

All about karamalz smurfs is dubious for me. I don´t mean dennis smurfs are dubious...They are great smurfs and I am gald he had added them to his collection...But I do say that thyey are one of the easiest smurfs for faking, with an unusual brown colour and letters that are hand written

Of course I would like to own all of them!!! :) :) :)

Me thinks so too Maureen. LOL In fact I have four more on the way. The German red cross and malteser. Anyway there are four of them I put links to them in the fake section (I think). Yep you guys and gals got me hooked. So much to collect and so little money. :) :)

Nice thread with great information and stories! :-D

I thought I'd post a picture of my Paracodin smurfs and my Drawigran Spezial...

Paracodin:
Paracodin pills are used to stop cough. They inhibit the cough centre in the brain, so that you get less reflexes to cough. :)
We had some longer discussions about the Paracodin promos here, for example:
http://www.forum.bluecavern.com/viewtopic.php?p=96518

Drawigran Spezial:
I found exactly one (!) information on the web:

"Drawigran spezial wirkt zuverlässig gegen Weizensteinbrand, Schneeschimmel an Roggen und Haferflugbrand. Die quecksilberfreie Trockenbeize bekämpft auch - BCM-resistente - Fusarum nivale - Pilze. [...] Drawigran spezial brachte in eigenen und in amtlichen Versuchen gegen den Weizenflugbrand gute Wirkung, die nach den allgemeinen Erfahrungen für den Konsum-Weizenanbau voll ausreicht."

http://resources.metapress.com/pdf-prev ... size=large

I won't translate it into English exactly, as it is not very interesting. ;) Drawigran spezial seems to be something to use against some strange e.g. wheaten illnesses. :) So it seems to be a product for farmer, I think.

So, now we learnt some unimportant things. :-D
