:) :) Those poor stores don't know what hit them :) :) Us smurf collectors are picking the shelves clean before they even have a chance to fully load them. I'm thinking there are workers right now getting yelled at from there bosses because the shelves are empty and they are trying to explain that someone came and took everything.. even the boxes

Has anyone by chance opend up one of the jokey playsets? The reason i'm wondering is because when you look closely at the box it looks like it could open up :-? :-?

You're all so lucky to have these stores selling smurfs. Impressive photo Moey! :D Glad you've got Robert so well trained Gerda. :) :)

Hi All; I did a little shopping at lunch today. I got 2 Papa houses 2 Smurfette houses, and 1 Smurf house. I also got 2 of the cars and 1 more of the Smurfette playset, 1 more Pape lab, and one more Handy workbench. I have a least 2 of each now 3 of the one's with 2 Smurfs. I couldn't put mine on the floor like Moey did Max would run off with as much as he could get before I caught him. I forgot to get the regular smurf plush. Walmart also had the larger plush but I didn't even look at them. Couldn't have carried them anyway. :) :)

wow Maureen, looks like you've cleaned out the whole store of their smurf stock! what a haul! Its exciting to see smurfs are being sold in stores... though I don't think anyone will know Target and Walmart even had smurfs once all the collectors are finished clearing out the stores.

Postby eggie smurf » Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:53 pm
The prices were different and higher at Walmart though, which was interesting as it usually is the other way round. The house sets were about $1.00 higher at Walmart
Same with our Walmarts here...I was very annoyed as Walmart is supposed to be cheaper  Of course that didn't stop me from clearing Walmart's shelves tonight but I still didn't have everything for everyone....so we went to the next Walmart and to my surprise, it only had a few of the beanie plushes left and the other shelves were empty  There is another collector somewhere in New Castle that got there first because the Walmart girl we found wandering around said all they had were out on the shelves.

And yes, Karyne...I got you a car tonight too :D

I didn''t clean out the walmart that I went to today. I took all but one houses. Left one Smurfette, Only two cars I left about three. I also left about 4 playsets and a whole box of the plush Smurfs.

I just took pictures of the smurfs and I am really impressed with the lot. The figures aren't as detail oriented as the Schleich figures, but they did put a lot of effort into the accessories. I don't think the houses are missing anything...I wouldn't mind moving in there myself

Is everybody keeping them in the boxes or are you getting two sets..one to open up and one to keep sealed? I accidentially got two of the Jokey/Grouchy ones and opened the second one up, but left the others sealed (so far) :D

I actually got two of each of everything. I got three of the Jokey-Grouchy, Papa-Brainy, and Smurfette-Poet. I only found two of the regular smurf houses. Not sure of the exact number but I would guess I left 4 of the Papa houses and Smurfette houses. I am not sure if I will open them or not. I bought the extra's to help someone that can't get them. If no one needs my help then I may open them. I am curious about something I just picked up the DVD season one volume two. I didn't know it was out.

I can't afford to get 2 of each set as the postage would kill me :) (If Mrs Tojo doesn't do it first :) )

If the packaging can be opened without destroying it then I think I'll open them otherwise I may well leave them sealed. I'll wait until I have thm before deciding.

Hi Tojo; It looks like There are a couple of pieces of tape on the lid and bottom. then it is twist tied to the box. That weird I was looking at the normal Smurf house on the left side it is held in with a grey or clear twists ties one around The body near the roof and through the window. The other side I couldn't see. I took it in the kitchen for better light. The right side is held in with a clear plastic strap around the body near the roof but it is not a twist tie. It also has one at the top of the roof around the yellow thing that sticks out the top. It also has a twist tie around the chimny. I don't know why they didn't just use the twist ties they are kind of clear and wouldn't be in the way to see what is inside.

I was looking at my reciept for the new Smurf's tonight. One Walmart had the price of $4.97 while the other one was $6.97. Target was $5.97 the third one didn't even have the Smurf's. As I walked through the isles of that walmart I looked at price tags on the shelves. I couldn't even find any of them. I didn't ask a clerk or anything. I did ask a lady earlier in the week she said she hadn't seen anything on her sheets. Maybe the manager decided not to carry them if they can do that. That was a dumb move it's the one I go to all the time. I had never even been to the other two until we started talking about them.

I like the new straps they use on toys, they are like a clear very thin rubber band, snaps real easily if you pull on it but at least you are not fighting with a twist tie for hours trying to get the toys out of the box. The kids got alot of playsets for Christmas (star wars and indie jones) and they where done unpacking in no time. those twist ties they always manage to wrap around something or twist up in a way you can't tell which way to un twist :banghead: and there is no way of just pulling on them or even trying to cut them, so you have to fiddle with it until you get it off. AND the worst part is when they use those little black pieces to secure them onto the cardboard.. now you have to try to thread a knoted up twist through this little plastic... :banghead: It's a wonder kids ever get to play with there toys :)

Hi Gerda; Did you open one of the house's? I am curious as to if the plastic they use on the right hand side is part of the plastic mold that holds them or something separate. I may have to open one if someone else doesn't.
Mr Bill

Postby Gerda » Sun Jan 18, 2009 9:01 am
I have not opened one yet, I'm waitint till I get doubles of each before I do. It's tempting though :)

Hi All; I finally broke down and opened the Smurfette house. It took about 1/2 hour to open it and get all the parts loose without ripping anything. There is a clear plastic elastic thing holding the flower in Smurfettes hand, and her arms move. Everything that I tried to remove from the house will come out. The Bed, Table, Chair all come out. I didn't try the rest, but they are seperate molds. The ceiling fan turns. I am inclueding a couple of pic's
