I`m glad I managed to keep you busy André :)
But the real smurfette should have markings made in germany and CABELTE on the rope, which can`t be faked so easily.

Anyway, my only intention with this topic was to make clear that it`s a portugese variation and not a spanish one ( DSK)
And perhaps I`ll receive an answer from Cabelte company itself.

Several big collectors have assured me though, that this is an original promo.

Hi Lia,

No problem. It was only fun to make it. :D It is raining here so it is a great day for smurfsurgery.

I have the german marked smurfette also but not with any broken rope. I don´t want to ruin one of the good ones.

And I agree that there could be a real promo for this smurfette, but how can I see the difference from the fake???????
Image

Thanks Maureen,

I believe there are many ways to fake these, but this is a common and easy way. You can probably buy the plastic strings in many different materialcolours used in other ways also. And since this smurfette was made with the rope as a loose glued accessorie it must be one of the easiest smurfto fake without possibility to see the differences. Since you don´t have to paint anything. If I just find a bluematerial plastic rope similair to the white rope, which I don´t think is that hard to find and glue this in the holes, it must be very hard for anyone to tell if it is a fake or not, right.

That is the real issue, Andre....how can we tell a fake from a promo and I think you offered some good insight. In no way do I think anyone is saying Lia has a fake. I just love knowing how to spot one when you have it in hand - of course, if the metal is removed, then it is harder to tell if it is just regular cable or not. :banghead:

When you see this smurfette, you`ll see the Cabelte marking and you`ll know, it`s the good one. :D

There could actually also be a way to promote their company by buying the Smurfettes without rope and using their own product together with this Smurfette without removing the metal. Since it fits so well. But if it is metal inside I doubt it could have been sold as a toy for children. But maybe as a promo?? It could be a very smart way to promote their cables?????

And I would like to have one but I don´t want to pay too much dinheiros for it. :)

Do like me André...I once bought a very expensive smurf from a Portugese seller and he gave it to me as a bonus! :D :D

I am not that lucky, Lia.

I would probably end up with 20 broken smurfs with initials under their feets for 100 euro. Shippingcost not included!!!!! :(

Great job, André!!!!

I agree, Lia...I never understood why it was mentioned as "spanish" at DSK...It would be interesting to hear what cabelte says to you....GOOD LOOK...I will have a careful look at mine as soon as possibel (I abandon my smurfs from june to september because the horrible heat makes we move to a summer house :sun: :sun: )

I have checked mine and this is what I found

- one smurfette with Peyo, Schleich made in Germany....No markings on rope...I bought this one in a spanish lot

- one smurfette with Peyo, Schleich made in Germany...The following markings on rope: RICC BEL CAT AZOR CE....I don´t know what it means...I received this one from Karen...She sent me this one a s a prsent because she had bought a lot and she was sure she had been fooled, so she was not able to ask me for money for that smurfette...

André, no worries about you spending too much "dinheiros" as that word doesn't have a plural... you can only spend too much dinheiro. ;)

But besides me nitpicking your grammar, this was a very interesting topic to read. :-D Thanks Lia for the pics and pointing out the markings, and André for doing such great surgery and showing how easy it is to fake these.

@Sandra, I hoped, you, being from Portugal, could tell us more about it!

Do you know a company, called Cabelte?

@ Joaquin: Joaquin, when you`ve returned to your smurfs, can you, pleaaaase, post a pic of that marking. I find it very interesting!!

Nope, never heard of them, but then again cables aren't really my area.

I think this smurfette was in production around 20 years ago and so one assumes that the promo was around that time too? :-? If anyone here or future browsers remembers when they first got hold of one and the story behind it or any other promotional smurf I think maybe is always great to hear  :smurf: :cheerz:

Interesting topic. Nice examples, André! :-D

If anyone would seriously try to make a blue rope variation, why would he take the part of the cable with the company's name on it? I mean, cables are long and I guess the CABELTE marking is only at the beginning and at the end of a cable...
Therefore it could have been done with intent...But then I don't understand why a cable company would promote their cables as a rope for a smurfette and with such a hidden marking. No idea. :) By the way: CABELTE was already existing 24 years ago: http://www.cabelte.pt/OGrupo/Mensagemdo ... fault.aspx. :D

Let's hope CABELTE respond to Lia. :D

OK,

I just wanted you to see how easy it is to checkif it is metall inside.

None of my Smurfettes( german- or Hongkong-markings) I can do this with.

I started with it like the rope should be and changed it in many ways and then changed it back to the normal shape again. Try this if you have a blue rope and think it could be metal inside.

And I can tell you it only takes a minute to cut the cable in the right lenght and remove the plastic in the ends. So if you think I spend a lot of time doing this you´re wrong. It is so easy. :) And I just changed all the electricity cables in my old house to new ones so I have lots of bags with these cables ready for the recyclingstation. So I can use either the thicker old cable or the thinner new cable as a rope.
Image
An intresting thing to know would be if the cabelte marking is on the same place on the rope on every smurfette with this rope. Is it likely that they put the marking on different places????
Image
Simon,

regarding why they should use their cables with the Smurfette I guess there could be many reasons. Maybe the plastic material is the same in smurf as in the cables???? :-? Maybe not??? Who knows?? Why did the SLA newspaper use a smurf for a promo?

And regarding these smurfitems it is impossible to know. I know collectors who still thinks the kwak accessories actually where tested to be sold with the smurfs (testversions) but used for kwak instead. But who on earth could confirm these things on writing?? :)

Maybe I should ask Magnus ( "famous" :) smurfcollector from Sweden, who has been many times on TV and radio). Because he works as an electrician and could have heard of this promo.

And another thing.

These types of markings ( companynames, cabletypes etc.) are very common on cables. And they are all over the cables with maybe 10 inches apart. So I wouldn´t be surprised if Cabelte has the same markings on their cables as on the Smurfette rope. Still doesn´t mean it must be a fake, though.

The bigger blue one has the writing kabel on it.

I can`t understand why anyone would fake it. It`s not even liisted as a promo in the DSK.
well, I`m going on to get more info, I noticed that Cabelte has a company in Holland too, may be they`ll answer.
