Thanks Alan,

Correct me if I understand you wrong.

So the smurfs that was made for Kelloggs are all the Schleichsmurfs made before 1969? So they just mean the Schleichsmurfs?

Did Schleich made these for Kelloggs before selling them in store.
André

In Sweden the smurfs are blue ( and yellow).

I have alwyas thought the dates of Dupuis are the dates you say, Lia...but isn´t it a contradiction with the words that the author use: Dupuis: we sell paier and not toys made of plastic?????If they used the figurines before 1969, it has no sense for me that answer.

It doesn`t make sense to me either Joaquin ( well, not yet)
I`m trying to figure it out.
I read the info from blue buddies and there is no word there about Bully or Kelloggs.
I hope, it`s allowed to copy some of the Blue Buddies info here?

It would be fantasttic to find a picture of a Kelloggs advertisement with a Kelloggsbox plus a Dupuis smurf!! ( if it ever existed??)

I have been reading and perhaps I can explain it a bit better (sorry but I have too many things to do this week).

The smurfs appear 1st time 23 october 1958, and 25 july 1959 is the first time they appeared without Johan and Pirlouit (Les Schtroumps noirs)...So it has sense what we can read at buddies: just after the success of Schtrompfs noirs, Dupuis made three figurines: normal, papa, and angry (it is told at the book how peyo cut a piece of hat and has put it the right way (no pointing behind) when he recieved first time the latex smurfs from Dupuis " ces figurines étaient réalisées en France et le fabricant a donc envoyé une boîte à Peyo pour accord...

So, it is clear the date od Dupuis smurfs is 100% exact (I can´t understand why Dupuis said they sold paper and no toys!!!)

And I can´t understand the bully-kellogs mention...perhaps we aretalking about the called Dupuis-union smurfs????

Well, you are right Lia...it has no sense last words I have said about Duouis Union smurfs...But it is for sure that the relation btw smurfs and peyo begins at least in 1966

FROM all this I deduce that the smurfs Bully made for kellogs are before 1969
Joaquin,

this is not possible. Bully was founded 1973. It didn´t exist before 1969.

I think they mean like this after what Alan told us.

First Dupuis makes the smurfs as you told before in 1959.

Then Schleich makes smurfs for Kelloggs in 1965. So if it is correct what Alan said the smurfs made before 1969 was used as promotional smurfs in the beginning. I think Peyo just asked Dupuis if they wanted to be part of making the smurfs But they were more intrested in books rather than toys. Maybe they didn´t do so well with the first ones they made and sold??? :-?

The reason Bully got involved with this is that they got all the Schleichmolds ( maybe Peyo owned these???)and that could have been when they asked Peyo what to do with the old "Kelloggs" molds???

You must admit that if Kelloggs sold smurfs, most likely many of the hardcore collectors here would have some. Therefore it must be some of the molds we already have like the Schleichmolds?? :o

Here is the early Bully history:

1983 Produktionsbetriebe + Malbetriebe in Deutschland, Portugal,Polen, Slowakei,Hong Kong/China.

Did Kellogs sell the smurfs or did they "only" add them into the Kellogs boxes? :-?

I can translate it Maureen. I understand most of the german I read, I hope???

1973 Company founded by Klaus Volkmar, first they only made smurfs in a small garage in Spraitbuch( a village near Stuttgart). Klaus Volkmar choose the french Bulldog as a trademark because he "breeded" these dogs( correct?? ). During the years he got worldknown as Mr Bully.

Lia can you continue??

Well. André...According to th edates you gives...It is impossible Bully made the smurfs. But it is what I can read at the book: BULLY FIGUREN. The smurfs were not sold: they were included in the box of corn flakes. Perhaps it is just a mistake, and the author was talking about Schelich. And the kellogs smurfs are just the fisrt smurfs made by Schelich without the marking¿¿¿¿????

Anyway, I will send tonight some scanned pages to Lia and anyone who wants them...But later: now I am going to see an interview of my president Mr Sarzozy jejejeje

Yes.

either that or the translation I found and wrote in the beginning is correct. It could have been made in the mid 70s by Bully. At that time they made smurfs for Waldbaurs and for carnevals.

Regarding the Schleich without markings. Since the markings are like the Herings with removed originalmarkings. The Schleichemblem was there from the beginning. It is easy to see on most of them that the emblem was there first and then later was removed.

If you find more intresting information in that Book let us know!! :-D
Always nice with threads like this!!! :-D

One more thing, when was the book written?

Lia,

maybe you can send the scans to me also??
