Hi again.

For those intrested it is time for another historylesson. :-D

Benny was very nice to send me a picture of a box with Schleichemblem on the sides. When Schneider became CEO he changed the Schleich logotype in 1978. So almost all possible boxes have this Schleich S( bold red S) on them. But the boxes made before 1978 could have the very very first box. The only possible boxes with the emblem are large house, playset1( but then without number) and also large playset. The picture used on these boxes are the same and all shows the same items.
So Dyar, if you have the chance to check your garden playset box without number one, does it have the schleichemblem? If anyone else has this I would love to see a picture!!

Now to another history. The history about the large playsets, house and windmill. the picture on the large house playset is the same as the first picture made for the accessories. Same as on Bennys playset1 with emblem. However I am certain these playsets were sold in the 90s. My boxes were sold around 1992. Both content and stickers tells me this. So for the other of you who have this playset, do you also have these CE-stickers. Maybe also grüne punkt stickers? And another thing. All of them has a sticker saying Bader.

What is this Bader? Is it like Quelle, a company, or a shop??? :-?

I also show a picture from my 1993 schleich catalogue showing the same type of Ce-sticker and grüne punkt sticker. Schleich made a large house box with printed CE, barcode and grüne punkt, which I have. This was made around this time also. But I think Schleich used the old boxes they had with stickers in around 1992.

So the question: What is bader with this logo???

I found it!! Just like Quelle it is a postorcompany.

This means if you find the katolog, like I did with the Kwak-items, from around 1991,1992, you will most likely find the Schleichitems pictured!!! :-D

Here you have the catalogue from 1987. Just like with the Quelle catalogues it also sells electronics, furniture, clothes etc.

http://cgi.ebay.de/Bader-Katalog-1987-Q ... 19c78897d4

Just have to find the 1991 and 1992 catalogues!! :-D I am sure they just like the Quelle from these years will contain Schleichitems!!But this time most likely smurfs!!

The reason for this postorder items is that in the Schleichbook they tell us that many persons in former East-Germany wanted to buy items like the smurfs after the wall fell in 1989. ?? :-? Items they could not buy before.

I even go further...All of my relatives lived in the Eastern part of Germany and my grandmother was forever sending care packages over to them of stuff that they saw commercials off on TV but couldn't get. Some of the things never made it to them as the customs people took them for themselves but others made it over fine.

I think one of the reason Quelle and Bader were so popular is that it made it easier for people in the DDR (Eastern Germany) to give their wish list to those of us in Western Germany :) :)

I don't remember too much of that time because as a child and teenager I obviously had other interests than relatives I've never seen or didn't see but once in a blue moon...but I do remember being jealous of them at times because it seemed that Granny would buy them more stuff and gifts than she did me :o :-? :)

Another intresting thing.

Benny sent me these pictures I could use. Enjoy the pictures of this lovely box. But as you know for me the information on the box is as intresting as the rest. :-D

These for me confirms a lot of things.

1. The first furnitures were made in both green and brown. See box. And looked like the ones I have posted before. A little softer material compared to the new hard ones.

3. this is a thing I have wrote about many times but not found any proof for.

As you all have seen the early smurfs are not in articlenumber-order. So I have been pretty sure Schleich used other articlenumbers before 1978. Since Smurfette, made 1971, was added together with the 1978-smurfs. If you look at this box it has a completly different articlenumber.

So here is the history: :-D

When Schneider took over as CEO he immediatly started making changes. And the first things he did, was changing the logotype as said in the book, and also together with this started the new articlenumberserie.
On Gerdas poster from 1978 you can see all the new articlenumbers and also the Schleichlogo on top. All those smurfs were already made and therefore have the emblem under them, but then they changed the marking.
After 1978 the smurfs were given the articlenumbers in the order Schleich sold them. Note that I write sold. Like with the Dr Dinch and Hexalotte they are not in the serie. But if Schleich would decide to start selling them they would get a articlenumber with the smurfs sold today, eventhough made many years ago. I asked Schleich about the articlenumber for the BASF-promos but they were for internal use only.

This also tells us the Gardener, Sitting, Thinking etc without the Schleich S marking were made before since this marking was not possible before 1978.

So Schneider and Schleich started the articlenumbers we have today in 1978!! :-D

As seen here on the first Nationalboxes before adding the number 1 to the garden playset. They used National Benzole articlenumbers on those. NB30 for the house and NB 31 for the playset. And then /78 for the year 1978. After this they added the new Schleich articlenumbers on the boxes.

So I would say Schleich started with those in mid 1978?? :-? :D

Here is a picture from the bader catalogue 1993. As you see they sold the large house playset, then with smurfettes bedroom, the tricycle-super and 3 smurfs. Just like saying on my sticker on my box.

Could be that Bader used the articlenumber 36 213 for that set. Benny has the same. But I have also a set with Bader number 37 148. This box do not have these parts and not that sticker.

Maybe bader used this larger Schleichbox for many different sets???

This we will find out later when we get a more detailed picture with numbers.

As you see they were sold in 4 sets in 1993.

This also means we can date the soft yellow sacks in my windmillset to 1992-1994. And also that my miller with yellow sack in that box is a genuine variation from around 1993. Catalogues from 1991,1992 or 1994 will tell us. :-D

Both my sets were unassembled and mint in plastic bags. Unfortunatly some of the smurfs were removed. :banghead: Only the buildings and playsets were still in bags. And some of the smurfs. :-D

Andre,
I am sure you are aware of this but the sticker states that you won't necessarily get what you see on the pictures...it looks like they chose 8 randomn smurfs with the house and playset :D

Maureen,

I am pretty sure the sticker means that the "abbildung"( almost the same in swedish, avbildning) is what is shown on the box. They put the sticker on the box so that buyers won´t think that what is written and pictured on the original box is inside.

Otherwise I think they used the smurfs that were available at the time.

But put them together to fit the sets. Like schoolsmurfs to the schoolset.

I do not think they took random smurfs in the sets. What you see in the catalogue is most likely also what you got in the sets. ?? :-? :D

That is my guess. But I could be wrong. :-? :o It have happened many times before.

I also thinks that when someone buys something from a catalogue, they would be very very dissapointed if it was not the items they show in the catalogue, right??

If you did not get the smurfs pictured in the catalogue it must most certainly be written in the catalogue, otherwise buyers would be angry.

So we will see what is written in the catalogue later, when getting better pictures. :-D

We will see it André :) I agreed with your opinion about the german word "Abbildung" which means what is pictured on the box. I can confirm it because I speak German, but I think Maureen knows it because she speaks German also, right Maureen ?! :-D By the way I found the contents in the box as it is mentioned on the white sticker.

Hi folks,

now I finally get the BADER catalog from 1993. :)

It is a catalog of 1993 from the mail order company called BADER.
Unfortunately, there is only one smurf related page.
I have enlarged this page for you. I have also enlarged the description about each set.
Thus you can see the prices at that time (DM), the name, the respective part numbers and the content of each set.

I only know the first set of left (36G213). Whether the other sets are ever released? :-?
