I don't like to think about the origin of some smurfs as it doesn't have any sense to me
but there is one story from smurf magazines (Die schlümpfe und die schlangenpost / Les cousins des Schtroumpfs) where they show TWO different smurf villages:
the smurfs and their cousins.

That is a great picture Barrufet!! :-D

And that tells us that also Peyo had that thoughts. So he illustrated the life in one of many smurfvillages??? :-? :-D

I know you have many comics. Do you know when the first baby appeared in a comic? Is it so that many characters appeared first in the television-series and then later in the comics, or are the episodes in the television-series always based on comics?? I mean the charcters now and not the stories.

So did Hanna Barberra add new characters before the existed in any comic-strip?

In Sweden the smurfs are blue ( and yellow).

Hanna Barbera created lots of new stories and adapted some of the old original books.
Some time after the comicbooks included characters from the HB series
like baby and Hogatha.
Also grandpa and Nanny were born in HB series and some time after they appeared in some stories in magazines. Never by Peyo but Studio Peyo.

This story of the village with the cousins is from 1997, so no Peyo at all.
Here you have it, 4 pages:

hmmm its really hard to decide sometimes what is smurf cannon.... its seems like while he was alive Peyo had a lot of control over everything and approved of what came in the cartoon and comics..... very few actually disagree with eachother (Greedy Smurf comes to mind though). Even after his death they seem to have kept pretty tight reigns on the smurfs though. I still like the idea of other villages.... I just don't know if I would want to see them all the time though. Green pants:)

We now in sweden have the possibility to buy the hanna barbera episodes on DVD. So faar only 8 DVDs with 4 episodes each. 4 more will be sold 30th of November. Probably could buy them in english but swedish could be fun if showing them to relatives children.

So how many episodes are there? 52?

I also like the thought of other villages. And eventhough peyo was dead when the comic about the cousins was made he was alive when the comic about the stork delivering the baby to the wrong address was made. So I think he kept this possibilty open?? :D

I like the idea that ( like stargate?? ) other places unknown to exist, is still possible to explore for future comics, right?? :o :-D
