As I told you before I am sure I bought both Schleich and Bully smurfs in the stores in 1978 in Sweden. And now when checking what was written on this record I think I got it confirmed also.

It says that the smurfs and houses on the picture on the record-cover is borrowed from "Stor & Liten", a very known swedish toyshop during these years. As you see the price tag on my old garden-playset is from that store. The other items were from Buttericks.

On this picture both Bully and Schleich-smurfs are shown, also Schleich accessories. This means the stores could get smurfs from both Bully and Schleich during these years, 1978-1979. I actually think it could have been the same in Holland, Germany, etc also.

So I think both companies made smurfs that you could buy in the shops between 1978 and 1979, but in 1979 Bully lost the license, when Schleich got the worldwide license from 1 january 1980?? Do you think that is possible or have I missed something???

An some other information from Sweden.

Here is a record with Fix Foxi smurf on the front. This recordcover was made already in 1978. And the record was made for Fix and Foxi.

So the fix foxi smurf was first made in 1978!! That also explains why it has the marking I have talked about before!!

Another interesting thing for our promocollectors is that the name SLA did not exist before 1981. Actually the name was changed to SLA in 1981 and that could maybe have been a reason for the promotion???

When i was a little kid in the 70 i got a lot of smurfs from my parents and grandparents.
Most of them had a Bully marking but i really can't remember the exect years.

What's this Dureco BV ???? Could this smurf has something to do with this.
Found it a couple of years ago, i know a few more collectors who got one, but no one could ever told me what or who this mark is from.

Frank: "Dureco" was a Dutch record-label, and had a factory (where they pressed their vinyl records) in my hometown (Weesp) till the early 90s ..
Then it closed because everybody wanted CDs instead of vinyl ...

What I remember in 1979 and 80 was that when the National garages got new smurfs in they were from one company or the other never mixed.....ie if 8 new smurfs were in, they were all bully or all Schleich

"Petrus Antonius Laurentius "Pierre" Kartner (born April 11, 1935)[1] is a Dutch musician who sings under the alias Father Abraham, and who has written around 1600 songs.[1] He worked as a promoter and producer at record label Dureco.
In May 1977, Kartner was asked to make a promotional song about The Smurfs. The record company pressed only 1,000 copies of the single, called The Smurf Song, since they were unsure about the success of the single. However, they were all sold within one day at a Schlager festival. After a repress, 400,000 singles were quickly sold. A full Smurfs album was then created, which also climbed the charts, with 500,000 copies sold. The album was released in several dozen countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Japan, and in various different languages, all sung by Kartner. The album scored a number one hit in 16 countries. Subsequently, Kartner released other Smurf-themed albums, again in various countries and languages, such as Ga je mee naar Smurfenland (Dutch) and Vater Abraham im Land der Schlümpfe (German). In all, Kartner's Smurf works have sold around 25 million copies"

So I think the orgin is from Holland on many of these smurfrecords???

without knowing it I got one of these mistakes made by Schleich that you love. Unfortunatly not a smurf though. It is my daughters birthday and since she collectos animals she got this stork.

But they have glued the base the wrong way. So the "feets" are pointing the wrong way!!

I saw this one at first on a site from a great collector.
That's why i always looked for letters on the drum.
And one day to my amazement i found one...........
But not one collector ever told me from which company this smurf is.

Dureco would make sence.

It has a clear connection to smurfs and Holland!! Or actually many countries since they were involved in the rights for the songs??

And also since the smurfs is a musician!!??

Maybe you could find out if they ever had a logotype looking like that????

it says in the SCCI letters in 1987 that Bully had the rights between 1973 and 1978. Maybe this is partly true.

We know for a fact that Schleich made smurfs in 1978. So maybe both companies made smurfs in 1978-1979 in also Germany, Sweden and Canada. It is written that Bully had the rights for the smurfs in Germany, scandinavia and canada. Maybe those rights stopped in 1978?? And the legal battle was only about that Peyo wanted Schleich to get the sole rights and become the worldwide manufacurer??

I have no idea about how it was in germany and other european countries, but I am 100% sure that I could buy both Schleich and Bully smurfs in 1978 in Sweden. Since I still have many of those and it is also written like that on the record.

But on the same time the Schleich book talks about these legal battles to get the rights and that Schleich was not alloved to manufacture smurfs. But as said maybe those rights stopped in 1978???
