Yesterday I received the Pole vaulter in Olympiabox with blue rings.
I only had a loose polevaulter till now.
I noticed that my old pole vaulter, right on the picture, has C 79 on his shirt, the olympia one does not have this.

In which box belongs the smurf with 79 on shirt??

Hi Lia

Not sure if i am going to be such a great help, but i hope Andre will correct me if i am wrong :-D

These are the boxes i have.
First one with the Olympic rings HK version.
Second box ........don't know, it's closed and it stays that way, but since it's almost the same box as the first..... i expect the same smurf.
Thirth and fourth box are empty because i have the smurfs displayd.
One is with the c79 marking the other is the one without c79 on his shirt.
The fifth box is a Made in Portugal one that has the same dull colours as the one that got c79 on him. So my guess is that the shiny one without mark comes from the schtroumpfiade box.
The last box has the CE logo on him.................
Hope i am right :D

Hi Lia and Frank,

there are 2 more boxes. Both W berrie boxes. Olympian-smurf- and super-smurf-box. The marking without 79 was the first one and was most likely only sold in the olympia schlumpf box. Already in 1979 they added the yearmarkings on these smurfs so I think these also can be found in the olympia schlumpf box. The Hongkongsmurf most likely was never sold in that box??? But later the Hongkongsmurfs were sold also in europe and then would have been placed in german boxes. I have many smurfs displayed and then when placing them in boxes again it is very easy to place them in the wrong box! And since the base is loose, meaning not glued, they also can be mixed up. For example I have a Hongkongsmurf with german base. Could have been just added by mistake??

The Schlumpfiade box was also used in 1994 with CE sticker and also containing the CE marked smurf. In 1998 they only used the polkadot boxes with CE smurfs.

Another funny thing is that it says Deyo on the HK base instead of Peyo??? Is it the same for you Frank??? Maybe that is a reason to put the german base on the HK polevaulter.

Hi Maureen

I feel terrible now
No i was expecting this

Here is my HK plate.
It looks like it says Peyo to me.
But the plate is a bit bended, if yours is like that maybe it looks
like there is Deyo written.

Hi again,

we had guests with small children today and I had to hide my smurfs. :)

Back to topic: Mine is definatly Deyo as you see on the picture. Another funny thing telling us they could have had problems with the spelling is that on both of our bases they spell SCHLEICH like this SCHIEICH. ??? :)

My guess is that the deyo was corrected??? I mean since both of us have the other spelling error it seems unlogical one of the bases is a fake.

I have many more polevaulters but as said before all the loose ones are stucked away and I can only check the ones still in boxes. :banghead:

Hi Andre

Maybe it was Peyo's twinbrother who was called Deyo

I don´t judge anyone, since not many collectors are that "hardcore" so most collectors don´t give a sh-t if the boxes match the supersmurfs?? Only a few years ago I could and did put the wrong smurfs back in the boxes after having them displayed. Many collectors have smurfs displayed and then put them in boxes when selling them, so many are off course not correct, but I don´t mind since it is better to save the boxes than throwing them away after taking them out. Many times it is also hard to say which smurfs belong in which boxes. :o :D

But if you compare with today we know that a smurf with a colour-dot don´t match a peyo creation box. Therefore if you have a pretty good idea when the smurfs with certain markings were made and sold and match them with the times certain boxes were used you get a match!!

Well, it is not the first time they spelled the names wrong in the molds in the early years. For example Aplause instead of Applause. :D
