Hi everyone.

I been thinking of how to display the smurfs in the museum and have and idea. I would like to show the history and how they were sold in different countries and also show some specialvariations made for those countries.

Any suggestions?

For example:

Holland: the BP shelves with the smurfs sold in 1977 just like the advert.

For UK I would use this shelf and add the correct smurfs sold by National in early 1979. The labels on the shelf goes well with the ones sold then.

and then off course also add the National petrol attendant.

From Brazil I would like to show the Heringhouse with the 23 Heringsmurfs!!

From Germany I would like to show the Bullydisplay with their smurfs made around 1976??

I like the idea..and think it would be fantastic to see them displayed based on their history

Will you be displaying licensed Schleich/Bully smurfs only or also included unlicensed ones like CNTs?

I will try to use examples of unlicensed also with history.

I have BP display from Australia with their special smurfs, Smurfee and VFL.

South Africa have their BP-bags and special rugbysmurfs.

Canada have the party pigs hockeysmurfs.

From US I have the turning display from W Berrie and will add special US ones like #1 teacher baseballsmurfette etc.

UK have National smurfs and rugbyvariations.

New Zealand has their rugbysmurf.

Denmark has a special kickervariation.

Germany has lots of different ones but I think the bundesligasmurfs would be special for their country.

Sweden would be the fix and foxi with the magazine.

France would have something with Mafi or maybe the 2 injured smurf, wheelchair????

Belgium has this years promos and the belgium lion??

Portugal with Maia Borges have houses and supersmurfs.

Spain have the CNT's and fakes.

And there are more I guess.

Argentina for example with the Minimodels.

Italy??

I assume you have to help me out with suggestions!!

I like the idea as most people will be able to identify their country with their smurf. Would you consider showing China and their recent fake smurfs?

The other interesting thing is where some of the smurfs were made or painted. Until I seriously started collecting smurfs I had no idea there were smurfs made in Sri Lanka or painted in Tunesia.

Interesting question about the China fakes...I'd not consider them, because I consider them to be made by money grabbing fakers, but chances are that in a few years those will be highly sought after as well, and collectors will find them fascinating...just as we now find fakes from the 70s and 80s highly collectible

Your other contributions about how the smurfs were sold in South Africa are also fantastic.

And as all of you know I love the different ways the smurfs were sold in different countries. Variations made for different countries. And different name use for the smurfs in different countries.

Many times the distribution of the smurfs, just like today is connected to movies shown in the cinemas or cartoon shown on the tellie.

Ariel from Argentina told me that the cartoons where shown around 1984 and forward and the movie "The smurfs and the magic flute" was shown around 1985. So that is probably also the years when the Minimodels were sold. When the smurf-era peaked. I have bought a item with smurfs sold by Minimodels with also were marked Wallace Berrie from around 1984. So it could be a connection between the success in the US???

I also managed to find a contact in Brazil through a brazilian at my work that helped me get some items from Hering. I assume the years were approximatly 1983/84 in Brazil also.

The displays are fantastic in their own right but then to add the correct smurfs from the respective countries would look very good

Just like the pictures from the the BP shelves in Holland from 1977 and the Bullydisplay from the poster made 1977.

I also found a picture of the Nationaldisplay were you can see the 30 smurfs sold by national in early 1979. The National super is not on the shelves because it was sold in the larger box. And on another picture you can see the superboxes and also the nationalpetrolattendant in box.

I got that display yesterday with all the 29 stickers with the correct national names. I will add the correct ones I have today and take a picture. I have examined the picture and I can see that the yellowscarf super sleigh smurf and the yellowscarf super sweep smurf( National names) are on the display and were the ones used. It also seems the super smurf boarder has red shirt and the striker has yellow shirt.

I want to find all these 29 smurfs with yellow dot and correct markings. Let´s see which ones I don´t have??
