These are in my opinion among the last PVC-smurfs sold by BP in Australia. Together with RollerskateSmurfette, Tennis Smurfette, Mermaid, Super fireman and other ones like the ones in Kaths guide.
I guess BP could have had the trademark for awhile longer but I think they stopped with the Schleich PVC smurf in late 1982 or early 1983.
As you see on both these surfers they have W.B.Co on their backs, so it could be that some of the smurfs sold in the end by BP in Australia got W Berrie markings??
This is also the time they used the very dark blue paint in the Hongkongfactory in around 1982. So W.B.Co marking was definatly used before the complete W Berrie-marking.
Regarding the VFL-base marking I have only seen this one. I am pretty sure they at this time used it on the Rugby also?? But I have not checked that yet.
