I did a little "cut and paste"-experiment with some old pictures.

You can see 6 smurfs, which I am 100% were sold in UK by national before the leadpaint-scandal. So these do not have any yellow dots.

Here you also see the new Smurfette Schleich made around 1977/78.

If you look at the black and white picture from a Nationalshelf when they only had these 10 figurines for sale, don´t you think it looks almost 100% sure that they used the new Smurfette?? Between Drummer and Astro, in front of the black background.

I don´t think Schleich used this Smurfette when they got their old mold back from Bully. But as we all know we can see that Smurfette as a keychain in the Schleichcatalogue from 1979.

They probably only used it a short time in 1978 and that would also explain why it is in the 1979-catalogue with pictures taken in 1978.

Do any of the UK collectors here remember if you bought that Smurfette at the National stations?

At this point the Gardener smurf was sold as a regular smurf called "Gardening", but later it was sold as super gardener smurf. The first 2 supersmurfs sold at National were Racing( Tricycle) and Super smurf-boarder( skateboard). And that was later. The garden playset was sold then though, so you could get the wheelbarrow early and use it with the gardening-smurf.

I found a picture of the sheet with stickers Steve!

Here is the picture from an auction where you can see the stickers I have on my shelves. Those were the names used by National at that time.

I believe there probably was a similair sheet of stickers sold with the display in Australia. But them with the other names I have shown they used on my australian display.

This sheet of stickers was made early 1979 when only these smurfs were possible to buy.

I would have loved to see how this leaflet looked like up close.

It has all smurfs national sold in the 1980 on them. It is probably a National Benzole leaflet, meaning before Coronet started selling the smurfs as on my leaflet from 1981.

I would love to see the pictures of the supersmurfs and accessories if they are on the other side? And what is written on the leaflet.

If anyone here have this leaflet or bought it I would love to get better pictures.

My bid wasn't enough to get the National display It went for £65. If my fiancee and I were not saving for our wedding this year and also looking to buy a house (well, get a morgage) then I would have bid a silly amount for it. The smurfs that I have from my childhood, late 70's/early 80's to add to the list for ones sold from that time are:

Angry; Portugal mold, mustard dot
Judge; Red robe, (I think mustard dot, but will check)
Gymnast; red top (will check if it has a mustard dot)
Sitting; small mold, yellow dot
Coin; W.Germany (not sure if it had a mustard dot as my Dad gave it
away )
Champion; mustard dot
Candle; mustard dot.

also Mirror and Judge pencil sharpeners.

I also placed a bid on the display, but I already have it with those stickers so I did not want to make a crazy bid. And since the picture with the sticker already was in the auction I am not that disapointed.

But regarding the auction the the leaflet I was watching it and thought I could play a game of Ruzzle on my iphone while watching it and when I was finished with the game the auction had ended. I hate when that happens. It will take a few days until I will forgive myself for that mistake.

Those historical items are the ones I am looking for and like so much. Almost as much as Maureen like the displayboxes??

Luckily there was a pretty good picture in that auction also that can tell me a bit about the history.

I know Maia Borges made all the old Schleichsmurfs and those are in their catalogue from 1985 and then exist with mustard dot. But I was not sure if those were sold in UK. Maybe Coronet sold more smurfs after 1982 also and then imported other smurfs. Champion and Candle is good to know that those exist.

Do you know how those were sold between 1983 and 1986 in the UK?

Hi Andre,

from what I can see the last smurfs my dad got for us as kids were: Nurse, Secretary, Surfer and CB Funker. So this would have been 1982 going from the production dates. All have mustard dots. These would have been from the National Garage that my uncle worked in at the time. I'll check with my dad when I see him later today and see if he can remember anything about it. Just wanted to add that I only had the Judge as a pencil sharpener and also that the Gymnast (2.0020) is made in Portugal with a mustard dot.
