I was always hoping for a circus theme set, but pirate set will be welcome to my collection. Although I still need to get the 2012 and 2013 sets.

Circus theme ? That would be a great idea for the years to come.
But these pirates look good. The look better than the latest years series. The festivity Smurfs from last year were ok, but to me they lack in creativity, imagination. Further back, I think the Zodiac and Halloween Smurfs are abominations. The movie Smurfs in between were good and fun too. But I think these pirates are one of the best looking series made in the last few years.

Here is my opinion.
2013 festivities, ok but nothing more.
2012 Olympics, soso, not very renewing.
2011 movie Smurfs, ok but only 6 figurines ?
2010 Zodiac Smurfs, 12 figurines are ok, but I only like Fishes.
2009 movie set Smurfs were ok.
2008 jubilee set, no, not any figurine that I found special for such a special occassion.
2007 native Americans, yes, they were ok.
2006 one of the most ugly series I ever saw, Mummy was fun though.
2005 classics were ok, fun to see them in a new style but pity they didn't made a second classis series
2004 soccers, I think the were fun back in the days
2003 that's already ten years ago...

I just saw on the Toydreamer website that the Pirate smurfs will be available in 2014. There is no month mentioned either.

Any ideas of what is being discontinued?

Cheers
Kath

Have you already seen better-quality photos of the new smurfs?

I found some (without water mark as in some online shops) in this Italian blog. :D

Hi Simon.

I noticed very good Pictures on facebook today. And I like them better now. :-D The first pictures of them almost looked like fakes. At least some of them. These Pictures are really good.

That`s good news! I was told in december by a german seller that Schleich would deliver somewhere between 10 - 15 jan. 2014, so it`s nice to know that the new smurfs are available now! :D

There are those who believe that life here began out there...

I agree. That looks great. A more relaxed Pirate.

It is amazing to see how smaller details can change a smurf so much.

It is like the blue in the eyes of the moviesmurfs. I prefer the normal Eyes, which makes them more "comic-alike". :D

But we have not seen them yet. Usually the smurfs sold looks a bit different compared to the Pictures shown. So that will be fun to compare. :-D

I believe that they are available only in Germany yet.
Here in Italy they don't even have the new catalogues!

PS: is there anyone who has a scan of the page with the official names of the Smurfs in this set in English?
