I was just wondering about the windmills. I know there are two windmills: the old and the new. Are there still colorvariation to these?


I have the old style windmill myself and I started watching it closely and it seem like it's painted white!! And the white isn't actually pure white. It's more like a bit yellow white. I have also an extra windmill base that is pure white with a bit of blue. Can these be right? Or have I faced another fakes?

Can you send pictures of your windmill so I can see teh actual color of it?

Hi Yonna, I think you are right, I vaguely remember one of the older windmills having a blue tinge but mine are not set up at the minute. I will see if I can have a look later and see if I can dig out some old pics.

I have 3 variations on my website (including Kwak) and I have another one coming in a few weeks that looks different again. There is also this one (old style in new box) which I am trying to hunt down...it's a darker coloured one.

That's 5 different ones as far as I know. Here's the pic of the one I am after:

That windmill on the picture reminds the base I have only mine isn't nearly that dark. Mine is like 98% white. My windmill also has got a different kind of signs on the wings. Maybe I'll try to put pictures here during this weekend and you can say what you think.

Hey has anyone ever tried hooking up something to the windmill winch inside? Schleich went to all that trouble to provide a real working outlet for the mechanical power generated by the windmill turbine (the interior wheel inside the ground floor). I mean, an ingenious scene maker could actually hook something up to his windmill that would run when he worked the blades.

There actually are a few windmills out there that have power to them...I've seen 2 on ebay over the past couple of years and they went for a LOT of $$. I think they may have been store displays originally though

Actually I have just realised: mine has the round patchwork.

I only have two: one old and one new (yellow)

(These are old pictures btw, as I don't have a section for my playsets)

Here is a picture of my windmill. Can you tell me something about the color? Is it painted or is it supposed to be like that?

Yonna that's funny: even down to the tear down one of the wing rather than a patch! Amazing! I have never noticed that before: I just assume it was the same!

About the bricks color: It's difficult to see from my pic... but I think mine are not painted, same color as the rest... but I'm not sure. It will take me time to answer that question for sure, because I know exactly where that windmill is, but getting to it is... let's say difficult: I have a lot of clearing to do... But I soon as I can do it, I will check it out and let you know for sure!

I just checked my windmill as well and I have the round patches on my windmill - it looks more like Dyar's Old Version on his website but the sides and back have a lot more blue and some brown around the bottom and the middle window on the front (I don't have my camera at home to take a pic right now)....I can't find the markings on there though- where are they hiding??

My old style Windmill came in the mail today and would you believe two of the cloth sails are blank white? The body of the windmill doesn't have the wood or the stones painted a different color (which bummed me a bit).

Has Dyar done a windmill report? I'm guessing this "all gray" windmill was the last version of the windmill before it became the yellow version?

I haven't yet...I usually post the reports after I have catalogued my items and I haven't got around to the large buildings yet...only the houses & cottages so far.

I have 4 variations on my website now (Kwak vers included) and the pic I posted above of the darker version is another one which I believe was released in the new blue polkadot box but with the old Windmill picture on the outside of the box. I would really like to get this one next and came close when that auction (from where the pic was taken) was finishing.

Can I ask if the cloth sails look faded on your one Tim or are they completely blank?

I haven't tried to hook it up to anything to make it turn...might be fun to try though.

I just realised that I forgot to add the boxes for the Gargamel's Castle & Windmills on my site....I had no idea that they weren't on there ....gotta stop tasting the contents of those bottles me thinks.

The two sails are completely white (not faded--the windmill came MIB). The blank ones were the bottom two of the four stapled together (the staple had rusted, leaving an orange stain on the topmost sail).
