My explanations are:

Scissor Sisters : two wird scissor looking things walking
Garbage : trash can emptied on the street
Tatu : the weird looking animal between twisted sister and scissor sisters is called a tatoo!
Eagles : 3 flying on the right

And for the last two that's if you agree:
The beatles (because of the zebra crossing?? )
Paula Abdul (pink cadillac?)

Also could the silver spoon be the song from the band Kiss?

As far as I can tell the items refer directly to the artist or band member not their songs if that helps.

My brother-in-law seems to think the creature thing near the flower cart is a Triffid too...any ideas on this??

I don't think Green Day, the Monkeys, the Beatles and Paula Abdul are correct, and I have never heard of the band Circle of Fairies (although it matches the picture). The other ones seem correct or at least possible to me (although I have no idea if they are Virgin bands or not).

Dyar, I thought the cake on the left indicated the band Cake...

But I would like to have a really big version of the picture (thanks for the link Karen, but I mean really really big), as many details are nearly invisible.

I think Green Day is correct - the green block on the calendar in the front right. Though I agree about the rest...they are a bit iffy. I also agree about the pic Fram....its hard to see anything. I keep squinting trying to figure stuff out.

Talking Heads may be a better explanation than Television, although it can be both at once of course.
