The only problem I have with the Katalogs is that when it comes to fakes there only seems to be 2 types...Grotesque & CNTs....yet there are so many different types of fakes out there and I don't like to label them all Grotesque. This fake with the brighter blue skin is one that does stand out. I have a few like this including the Ice Lolly and when it comes to cataloging them I am not sure what to label them as. Others very similiar include Smurfette with Basket, Nurse Smurfette, Smurfette with Flower...and there are others too that I can't recall off hand. I might try to put the different types of fakes all in groups down the track and try to investigate them a bit further to find out more about them.

I agree that this is a nice one to get because of the different colours.

Thanks a lot everyone.... :-D

Was sure it was fake but since I had not seen it before... you tend to question it's origins. I have this since the 80's so probably it is an 'original' fake.

Will try to get hold of that catalogue .... but it is really frustrating cos you cannot get one book with all smurfs in. Just got the Katalogue IV but it has smurfs missing... and it is in German...

Anyone knows about which catalogues best to get?? :-?

thanks

Following that picture and my experience that lolly smurf is fake. If you take better look you will see that it is finished really bad, even the paint job.

Puffuonecent is saying that he had that from the 80`s and he is sure it was fake...............if so i dont think it was bought from Malta because we only had licenced ones.

Even re-productions never made it to Malta because smurfs stopped coming to Malta in late 80`s.

I would classify that smurf in the picture as a fake smurf.

Puffuonecent , how is it going your collection???

Hi Oliver, personally I use a combination of the two. The KMS Preiskatalog lists the smurfs in order of years that they were released whilst the DSK lists them in Schleich numbers which is useful to see at a glance. The two guides are very similar in terms of both being in German and both showing lots of pics. I would say that the KMS probably has slightly more non-pvc items and the DSK probably shows a few more variations. :D

Could not stop thinking about where exactly I got those smurfs and finally I became aware that in the late 90s my dad and sister went to Sicily and I asked for ....... smurfs! so melchoir is probably right... I probably (cannot remeber now) got the lolly smurf, the drunk, smurfette with basket and maybe guitar smurf from Sicily and guess what... probably all fake..... :banghead:

but that is all right...

about the painting I do not think it is so bad... only the toungue is not so exact ... the blue is lighter but still I think it is quite good... well happy me that I like it!!!

Hey Rachel... from where can one get those kind of catalogues... amazon or something???

thanks

Ah by the way ... is there any info where fakes where made and distributed... and do these differ... just for the record!!

You can get the DSK (and some other ones?) from our own hostess, Karen from Kitty's Cavern (link at the top right of the page)!

Hi Oliver, I don't think Karen stocks the KMS Preiskatalog so I would say Ebay (Germany) is probably your best bet. Here are a couple of auctions, unfortunately they are both Germany only but it might be worth asking the seller if they would ship to Malta. :D

If I see another one that ships worldwide, I will let you know. :-D

You should be able to get the other catalogue from Andy in Germany.

I think Andy might sold out of the latest ones but he would probably be the best person to ask I suppose.

I am after the older 1996/97 (I think) Preiskatalog with the Wreath Smurf on the cover. If anyone sees this one can they please let me know.

Good luck puffuonecent...I hope you find one soon.

Do you need this one as well, Dyar? It isn't on your website, and you seem to want them all, so... I have no idea of the price this one usually fetches though! I hope you see it in time...

Thanks for the link Fram and thanks to Rae who sent me a message on msn letting me know that you posted it. I am going to have to give this one a miss unfortunately......too many smurf bills at the end of my pay again :-?

Thanks for thinking of me though and hopefully next time I can do something about it.
