Hi guys, yes I agree. I think a whole section may be needed and then a thread for each smurf. The threads won't stay in any order but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Then as Fram says, we are in effect starting an online communal catalogue. :-D

Any suggestions about any different ways of doing it or should we just try adding a new section? :D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Nope, that seems to me the correct (or at least easiest way). I was thinking about this and it looks to me as if it is best that the first post in every thread would be a summary, i.e.:
Papa 20001. Known markings: W.Germany (1-4), Schleich S Hong Kong (1-6), etcetera, where the numbers are the known mould numbers and so on. This first post can be edited every time new info gets available, so that you always have all relevant info at a glance at the start of the post.
Furthermore, we can start with a sticky to give some "rules": a list of all markings and how to call them, so that the same marking is called the same every time (i.e. no mix between Stickman and Schleich emblem or so), and so on. We can have our own system of references, but with possible pointers to the DSK as well, if necessary.
Info that can be given (apart from a description of the Smurf) is: marking, mould, and perhaps a price indication? The last is difficult of course...
That way, we keep room for some more loose discussion after every first post, without loosing the info in the babble.
I would keep this section as an extra for the members (like the eBay section), but that is not necessary.
Any thoughts?

I'll perhaps give it a go, but I'm still weeding out the eBay section (ten pages gone yet :-D )

This sounds great Fram.....it would be interesting to compile all of the info we have here as we should learn a lot about each smurf this way. I am sure it will take a while but we have a bit of time between now and when we die so I don't see that as any major problem with that. I think once up and running it could prove to be very handy and useful for all collectors no matter how many smurfs they have. Also, I think by combining the efforts of everyone and many different collections then we could come up with a very very good database.

I am thinking we could list the variations and then go on to add promos with that mold, known rohlinge etc. I think we could almost have a whole new forum for it but I guess we should just start and let it naturally grow and develop into what it will become.

Count me in :D
