I just go the smurfs vol1 and i was just wondering if Smurfette was in the early episode, Im sure her first was the smurfette episode. the dvd's seem different.

i'm pretty sure she was in the first episode ....if i remember correctly the first episode was about her......i believe the episode where gargamel "created" her aired halfway through the season

yes, Smurfette was in the cartoon series from the very first episode. That would be the "Astro Smurf" episode on that first volume.

And your right, the "Smurfette" episode is half way through the first season. That episode hasn't been put onto a dvd volume yet

That rumour about Smurfette has been around before, but I have no idea where it comes from as a) Smurfette was already in the very first cartoon, and b) she was created in the comics in 1967, long before any of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Perhaps Sassette was added after complaints that there was only one female Smurf, and that story got mixed up with the creation of Smurfette?

As for the cartoons being redrawn: no idea, but I would be highly surprised, as that is quite expensive.

I think my question is worth more invetergation, as a child i remember loving the smurfs alot more before smurfette,
to me it looks that smurfette has been added in these early toons over he top of hefty and vanity parts.
